Google Places Review Feature Disabled on iPad Web Searches

Are you using an iPad to collect reviews from your customers on Google Places?  If you are, I'm sure you are using the Google Places App for the iPad.  

If you are not, you will discover that something has recently changed on Google Places when you visit the Google Places page on an iPad using a web browser.  

The "Write a Review" button is NO LONGER visible on the iPad.

The screen shot above is what can be seen from a laptop or desktop device.  You will not see this from an iPad.  Strange.

The message here is that you will need to download the Google Places App to post reviews for your business on an iPad device.  I was not aware of this change, so I decided to share this with ADM members.

Change is constant with Google!

Appears to have been noticed by Google:

Google has indicated that they have identified the bug, are aware of the problem  and will be working on a solution. It is primarily an iOS issue (both iPad and iPhone). 

For those of you that are desperate and need an iPad to get to a page that will give them the review button you can create a url like this that will work on an iPhone or iPad:
To generate the URL go into the dashboard and click on View.
Another tactic is to take the regular cid and add the "open review box" code to it:
This URL will take the iPhone or iPad directly to the mobile review form

VPN access via dealer's wireless network into a PC and voilà! you should have the regular functionality of the places pages in the ipad.

Great job Brian. 1 thing we know, if we download and use the app, we give permission for the use of our data. Could Apple have anything to do with it? Hmmmm Big Brothers Are.........

Interesting, thanks for staying on top of this Brian.  I noticed the "Daily Google Blog" email I got yesterday was promoting their internal apps.  IMO, to date Google has not promoted apps as much as their mobile sites (which are pretty good for Gmail, etc.).  Perhaps this is a push to get more folks using their apps, may allow them to tighten the engagement with the user.
