Why not take the cheapest chat vendor – or cheapest of ALL expenses??

This ad from Starbucks is good advice when shopping for all your website vendors – and many brick and mortar vendors, as well. If you’re thinking about adding live chat (or other website add-on) to your marketing strategy, why not just go with the cheapest you can find? After all, if you can save a few bucks, it’s worth it, right?

Honestly, not really. You probably don’t use this standard for your brick and mortar expenses or many of your web vendors, and the same wisdom goes for live chat. Just like there is a substantial difference in the quality of a cup of coffee, there is a dramatic difference in the choices available to car dealers. Which one of these are you using:

  • Minimum-wage operator
  • Gas station car wash team
  • Permanent trailers for new car sales offices
  • Free website or listing service
  • Flip phone inventory photos

These examples may seem silly, but when you consider that in many cases the live chat software and / or managed chat vendor you choose may be the first interaction a website guest has with your business, all of a sudden the quality of the experience becomes paramount. This is especially important with all the measures dealers are taking to drive traffic to their websites through SEO and SEM, as well as traditional and digital marketing.

A little research can go a long way to help you decide on a quality live chat vendor, from 20-group referrals, vendor review websites, and even analytics companies that track the most effective vendors and website add-ons.
