Top 5 Situations Where MCBs are a Must

Be it your home, office, or factory, one of the most crucial requirements for it to properly function is a well-established electrical system. Every household or machinery requires large amounts of energy, and hence there is a need to keep safety measures in mind when it comes down to electricity.

With the advancement in technology, the new mechanisms have been invented to keep a check on power fluctuations in electrical systems. One such mechanism is that of an MCB – a Miniature Circuit Breaker.

What do they is act as a controlling agent during an unusual supply of power. It cuts off the electrical system as soon as it detects an overload. More often than not, it is used as a replacement for a fuse. Depending upon the nature of the electrical applications, various kinds of MCBs can be incorporated in your residency and/ or industry.

So miniature breaker circuits are an excellent solution for homes and buildings that has less equipment. Below are a few situations where MCBs are a must.

  1. Home Electrical Panels

Miniature circuit breakers are used for safeguarding homes from any possible overload. As they have the capacity to handle large amount of electricity, hence considered very reliable and safer than a fuse.

  1. Lights

Most households have an extensive lighting system. The miniature circuit plays a crucial role in the distribution of electricity across all the lighting systems of the house. For example, when talking about fluorescent lamps, they require a massive amount of electricity when compared to standard light bulbs. This is where MCBs shine through, as they help maintain the quality and safety of light bulbs.

  1. Industrial Applications

Miniature circuit breakers can also be used as an effective safety mechanism in both small and large scale industries. More often than not, most of the machinery in industries require up to 30 KA of power supply. In such a case, you need to switch to MCBs from old fuses.

  1. Heaters

MCBs are a reliable safety solution, especially if you have installed heaters in your home or office. Ideally, it is seen that heaters develop high voltage fluctuations easily as it attracts a large amount of power from the main supply. However, with effective installation of a miniature circuit breaker, these scenarios can be avoided. There are different types of miniature circuit breakers, and each type can handle a particular load of power.

  1. Ground Fault Trip Mechanism

To begin with, a ground fault occurs when a live wire comes in contact with a transmitter that is not a part of the circuit system. In cases like this, the rate of current flow increases with a fault in the circuit. So this is where MCB initiates its magnetic tripping mechanism and rectifies the circuit system.

In the end, effective installation of miniature circuit breakers ensures safety and protection of all the electrical systems that are placed across the households or industries.
