As part of ongoing market research, ShipCarsNow annually surveys independent and franchised auto dealers to get their feedback about online trading of used cars and related auto transport services. While a lot of data is available about the used car industry, not much to data has been focused on auto transportation.


When buying most other items online, location of the product is generally irrelevant to the online buyer; people rarely concern themselves with shipping details related to their purchase, other than delivery time and cost. However, when dealers buy used cars online, they often have to worry about where the cars are located because shipping is not usually included in the purchase transaction. The results from ShipCarsNow’s 2010 Dealer Survey suggested that some dealers actually restricted their Internet trading in 2009 based upon their ability to coordinate transportation for their purchases. ShipCarsNow uses the survey results to understand and respond to auto dealer requirements for shipping wholesale vehicles, especially when buying online through Internet auctions.


As the wholesale market continues to constrict, auto dealers need to take advantage of all the tools available to get the best wholesale inventory while maintaining strong profit margins. ShipCarsNow’s annual Dealer Survey will provide the used car and auto auction industries with information that could make a significant impact on a dealership’s bottom line.
