As I lay here in bed, I reflect on an article I just read. It was a picture of a mother on her cell phone and her kids at the park. In the article it mentioned that your children see your actions and need your attention. You can be the greatest mother or father, but that cell phone can be your biggest downfall. In a digital world, we are constantly busy and looking at our computers, cell phones, tablets, etc. In a world where we connect so much, there is still a huge disconnect because of all this technology.
Now I will say, I read this article and I say, "I'm pretty good at not doing that." Pat on my back, right? Wrong. I am laying next to my 14 week old and she is falling asleep. What do I do? I go to check my email. We don't even realize it. All of us our business professionals on here, so I just wanted to reiterate this concept. Put your cell phones away when you are not at work and you are around your families.
It is very hard to find that right balance. Today I walked into work, had 117 new emails, I have Mokena market starting Saturday I need to set up, email campaign proofs, mailer proofs, payroll for bdc appointments, interview at noon, Cobalt rep at 1, leave for our service digital meeting at 2, back at 6, stay till 8. Come home and feed my daughter, put the other to bed and then go to put the other to bed. I can't even wait the extra ten minutes to check my email after working 12 hours. Sound familiar?
Basically, it sounds simple, just not as easy as one would think. Not everyday is like this, I really am a great mom, but sometimes we need a simple reminder. I believe every one of us can more than likely use it. Enjoy your families, because I truly believe when you are happy you can be 100% better at life.
