Names of Facebook Admins will Begin Appearing on Posts and Comments

You have multiple Facebook Admins on your Facebook page and you sometimes find a piece of content that you know you didn’t post on the page, but somehow, it is there staring you right in the face. You become puzzled and wonder how it got there and who posted it, with no answers in sight.

On February 7th, Facebook posted a message on their “Help Center” page advising Facebook page administrators that their names will begin appearing next to their posts and comments. This new feature will be seen only by administrators and not by those who “like” the page. This will begin on February 20th 2014 and will not be retroactive; this new feature will only appear on posts and comments, on or after the 20th. If you are a Facebook page owner, you might have already seen a message appear at the top of the “Admin Panel” on Facebook, letting you know of this upcoming change.

On February 20th, you will begin to see the change take effect. Page posts will show the name of the person below the name of your page, next to “Posted by”. This new addition to Facebook will also show who is replying to comments as an administrator by posting their name below the comments, next to, “Commented on by”.  Your activity log will show the name of the person who has scheduled content to be posted onto the page, as well.

This will not only help administrators know who is posting, scheduling, and commenting on content, but it will also give the ability to provide credit and accountability to those who share content and write comments. It will help the group of administrators on your page to ensure quality is being performed by every person, for their name will now be added to the work they produce on your Facebook page.

Indeed and thanks for pointing this out... :-)

Yes, Ralph I too believe it will create great value! Adding multiple administrators to a Facebook page has not always been welcomed in the past by some companies, but this new feature will definitely make it much easier to feel comfortable in adding more and take out the guess work. I too was a little disappointed that it won't be retroactive for that would have been nice to have for all of us with multiple admins on our Facebook pages.

I agree, Arnold! Many companies have made employees post their initials, but this can be easily forgotten if the employee is in a hurry or just accidentally forgets to post their name, which is why it will be much more convenient to have this new Facebook feature. It will be so helpful in keeping track of who is posting what content or comment!

Very true, Alexander! It has been a request of many companies for Facebook to add this new feature and I'm sure it will be welcomed by many!

It's been a request of companies for more than a year. Quality assurance on Facebook's part. This isn't news though, it's been pestering all of us for over a month.

I saw that also and think it's great. Many companies make employees tag their posts (or replies) with initials so they can have accountability. Now they won't have to do that. It'll be much more convenient for the company to keep track of who is posting what.

This is going to make a big difference in the desirability of having multiple "Content Contributors" authorized to post to a dealer's various Facebook Pages. I had heard this was coming a few months ago and began authorizing multiple "Content Contributors" on the 80+ Facebook Pages I administer... There are many ADM Members who should be saying to themselves "ah ha, so now I see why Ralph did that..." The only detail that caught me a little off-guard is that the attribution model will not be retroactive to posts and comments made before February 20th.

In my opinion, Facebook has created additional value to the use of Pages by Car Dealers. Now, a dealership can authorize as many employees as they wish, even as content contributors, and when these employees post content or make comments, their user name is given attribution listing. In the past, it was pure guesswork and speculation when trying to figure out who posted or commented when the attribution was to the page itself...
