IRIE-MON - Dees new VeeDub ad for big game hits mark with Jamaican kul-tcha

So the battle continues, and I think THIS "Get In. Get Happy." VW ad for Super Bowl Sunday wins the battle by TKO in the second round.

Fun, pithy, enthusiastic...and has a CAR. The appearance of Big Bang Theory star, Kaley Couoco, in the Toyota ad may challenge objectivity, but for effectiveness and fun, combined with a strong product message, this ad - with nearly a million hits so far, is jus de ticket, mon.

For the record, I still think the Sunny Side ad missed the mark to drive sales, even if it also has nearly a million hits. Thanks to ADM genius, Chuck Dapoz for mentioning this new Volkswgen ad.

Can you believe some people are calling this "racist?" Wake up America, you're becoming a hyper-sensitive, degenerate society run by inept leadership and horrible media opinions.

Since VW released the ad on Monday US media pundits have slammed the ad and described it as insensitive, offensive and shocking. "I found it offensive. It's racist." Barbara Lippert well-known journalist at told NBC's Today Show.

“It's pretty horrific," Ricki Fairley-Brown, president of the multicultural marketing agency Dove Marketing, told USA Today. "Why do they have a white guy from Minnesota faking a Jamaican accent?"

Meanwhile, Jamaicans themselves like it, how silly we've become.

But the endorsement of Jamaica’s former prime minister, Andrew Holness, and current minister of tourism and entertainment, Wykeham McNeill, might. Wykeham said Thursday that he though the Super Bowl spot was “very creative.”

Hey it got me smiling. "Respect Boss man." So I would say it's effective.

Hee hee!

Yep, seems like they're running out of fresh ideas, much like Hollywood regurgitating films over and over. It's TCM for me.

I like the space babies. Interesting to see where they're going with the animals in space suits - though the RAV4 has already blasted into space...

I miss the Budweiser frogs. I just NOW figured out the pig in the geico commercials is the one that did the whee commercials - and it took him mentioning the 'whee' in an ad for me to catch it. SMH

Subjectively speaking, it's an effective spot, especially for the demographic they're trying to tackle. I think all of these teasers more or less lack the punch they've had in previous years. I haven't seen anything from GM and they've stated they'll be doing nothing this year (CBS Prices). You've left out Kia's "Space Babies".

As a Jamaican land owner and taxpayer... I approve this VW TV Commercial!
