I was asked that same question SEVEN TIMES after the front door of the dealership opened for me. 3 were salespeople 2 managers and 2 administrators.
The shocking thing is they were all busy. The showroom was a beehive of activity with multiple deals working. I sat down with the owner and mentioned the seven offers of help and he just smiled. The employees were clearly trained to welcome people and provide help.
When I walked in to the dealership, it was clear that I was a vendor. My attire, briefcase and they all knew me. I’ve been on the same route for 12 years. It didn’t matter to them because whoever walks in the door of this dealership gets help- no matter what they need.
It’s also no surprise that this dealer draws more activity to his website than any of the 50 dealers in my territory. Does more website traffic mean more floor activity? I think so. The dealer invited me there because he wants more web traffic- a lot more web traffic and we agreed on a plan to take him there.
I know he will start selling more cars in the future because the friendly and helpful staff will be ready to assist the extra customers.
Starting today, I will be sure to be asking my customers “can I help you” more often. You just can’t ask enough.
