We will never forget this day. Ever. A heavy rain is falling in Detroit and Walter Chrysler is turning over. The Dodge Brothers have tears running down their cheeks and are now forever the Blues Brothers. And everyone in the now defunct Chrysler LLC is on pins and needles waiting for the shiny shoe of the White House to drop.
Interesting it was done on the last day of the month and the last day of the quarter. Perfect timing to go bankrupt. Any car guy… Continue

It's so much a part of business today: cost cutting, staff reductions, marketing cancellations, disappearing perks. Even companies that are profitable and efficient are not exempt from the slashing and hacking (that makes sense, right? right?). Needed? Absolutely! Done right? No way! What can you honestly expect when you're name (and more) is not out there?
There's no point in kicking a dead horse: it's bad out there and those that watch conventional media just make it worse by… Continue

This is the time of month to go get a car; the deals have truly never been better for you the customer. The salespeople already know tomorrow is the end of the month. Hope both parties take advantage of it.
Pontiac going bye-bye does not mean your warranty and your service disappears. My daughter's Oldsmobile visits the Cadillac store on a regular basis.

Talladega needs to keep the cars on the ground. The catch fence did just that. Up to seven fans were hurt when debris blazed through the fencing. How long before we slow it down there?
You have to grab the book "How to Ask for the Appointment and Get It" by Chris Morrissette. No matter what you sell, it is worth it. Go to www.forfreeandforfun.com

If you have ever thought that Google search engine displays a boring list of search results, you are in for a pleasant surprise. Google organic search results are getting more interesting to read as Google is adding icons to different classes of search result links. One trend that I observed are very encouraging to business owners who are using press releases to promote their business.
Google must be in the process of creating categories of Internet posts and deciding if the category… Continue

We offer a new program for dealers to help them retain there customers by giving away a vehicle deductible reimbursement. Let's say you gave this to your customer for purchasing a new car from your dealership. In 3 months someone in their family gets in a car wreck that requires the car to be fixed. Since you gave them this vehicle deductible reimbursement program the customer brings their car back into the dealership for repair. Then we Cosurence pay the customer $500.00 as a reimbursement to… Continue

Until the bitter end, Rick Wagoner, deposed CEO of GM, refused to acknowledge bankruptcy as being a viable option for GM. I believe the plan he submitted to the Administration’s Auto Industry Task Force was the best he felt he could do without the benefit of bankruptcy court.
Bankruptcy court represents handing over control of the process to a bankruptcy judge. The judge has broad powers. A possible “benefit” GM, Chrysler, and the Car Czars might hope to accomplish through… Continue

Oh boy. It is serious now. It almost looks inevitable that Chrysler is going into Chapter 11, and that General Motors will become Gen Mo... Cut in half with elimination. It is a very scary mess. That Kangaroo station down the street, that local grocery store, restaurants across America will be affected. When Gen Mo closes factories for NINE weeks this summer, the ripple will be felt everywhere. This single act alone will set the economy back again.
The new song, "Shutting Detroit… Continue

Nobody can say when the economy started tanking, there are lots of opinions. But, it seems to me that Fall 08 was the start of our current situation. Let’s decide it was September 08 for sake of argument. Are you doing anything different today that you were 7 months ago? If so, what? If not, why not?
There are countless ways to improve. Countless initiatives, strategies, plans, changes and adjustments that COULD be made. Most folks are doing the same things today as they were last… Continue

It is time for me to renew my parts catalog contract. I am trying to find an alternative and I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone else besides SnapOn. I am Honda and GM dealer. I was thinking about using Trade Motions tool which I think has a full catalog. I know the intent is to use for a reatil application but what would prevent me from having my countermen use it to look parts and part numbers?

Facebook. LinkedIn. MySpace. Twitter. If you’re familiar with these websites, chances are you’re working on a strategy to incorporate them into your internet sales process. I just got back from attending the Digital Dealer Conference. Every session I went to I kept on hearing speakers tell everyone in the room to convince your Owner/GM that they need to realize that the internet is here to stay and you need to change the way you sell cars. Well I don't need anymore covnincing. A few months ago two dealerships were nice enough to let me see how they sell cars using the internet. First I want to thank Manny at Anderson Honda and everyone that took time out of their… Continue
