Automobile Trainers/Vendors...Question for all of you: How often while at a dealership doing what you do are you asked a question concerning hiring salespeople,staffing their BDC or internet dept? The question you get asked could be as straight forward as I need more or better salespeople,where and how do I get them or as vague as I don't have the right people to achieve what I need to achieve to sell more cars and make more gross...."If I just had a couple more "studs" I'd be set.How often are you asked about other positions as well...from Porters to Presidents?

The above "Behind the Curve" link has a post on Facebook Click Through Rates, which are dismal and getting worse.  No big surprise at that is the history of display advertising.

Even though we all have a smartphone, don't think that all your customers do.  Dealers still need effective communications to the vast majority of feature phones for many years to come.  Every mobile device can receive a simple text message.

Nicolas, the chart you posted is based on what US executives "reported" as being the main benefits of social media... How much of those percentages are based on opinion and perception, versus measurement and reporting?

Boiling Social Media and engagement down to the very bottom line for a car dealer means converting the entire experience and medium into business. I wholeheartedly agree with you, Ralph, that there is a small minority of those who experience success because most dealers are not leveraging it properly.

Social media is still at a very early stage for the Auto Industry; that's why I feel that dealers are privileged to be working with ADP. They're riding the wave of something more powerful than ever right now. As you say, it's just a matter of time before all dealers will be present in social media and the competitive advantage has diminished. Once they are all dealers are present it will be the efforts made towards interacting that win.
