@Matt WOW!

I was just playing around with the 2.0 beta of the inventory manager. The view feature is really cool. Are you guys going to add a filter for if the vehicle has had a window sticker printed? The most frequently used report I use is used vehicles : stickered: no photos - these vehicles have gone through cleanup and are ready to be shown. Really helpful for anyone taking pictures of their inventory.

I'll give you that the functionality is there, but it sure would be nice if it were more user friendly. Perhaps a way to view only inactive vehicles and send them live? That's where "Seems like just an offshoot of not distributing vehicles without prices" was headed. It's there, but it's buried, and it would be nice to have a "vehicles not being distributed" inventory link.

I think what Jeff and I are referring to is a visual interface that separates "Working" vehicles from "Live" vehicles. Check out a demo of the JMS (recently bought out by DealerTrack) AAX Internet Marketing System. When we had this last, there were tabs that seperated the vehicles by status. In fact, I think there was even a tab for Wholesale units. I can give you the direct contact of our rep - just shoot me a private message if you are interested.

The possibilities of this can go beyond just working and live... you could even have custom tabs that could show all vehicles with no photos, or no price... it shouldn't be too hard to hash out the data if your system is already capable in its reporting.

@Jeff - Exactly! I think it would just be an added convenience.

I vote for Ryan's idea. That would keep us from listing vehicles at the price pulled from our DMS and let us properly price it first. Seems like just an offshoot of not distributing vehicles without prices, yes?

@Matt - My GM wanted me to ask you... a lot of inventory management providers have multiple displays for the inventory, particularly used. I've seen one, maybe it was AAX, that had Working and Live settings. Vehicles freshly entered into the system go into the working window. There, they can be updated, comments tweaked, photos added, etc. When you are ready, you manually push the vehicle into the Live window with a simple click of the mouse. Options are available to list all vehicles in the inventory gallery page regardless of status, or only for live vehicles...

Do you think VinSolutions might ever split things up like this?

With Vinsolutions right now, our used car manager will go on a car buying run, get a bunch of vehicles and enter them into the system to get started, often long before the vehicles are even physically on our lot.

I know you guys have the option to hold exporting of vehicles without pictures or what not as well as for the inventory gallery page, but I think the working/live distinction is a bit easier to manage what needs more attention.

Just a thought...

@Matt Are you referring to layout templates or sample email content for various tasks?

Here's a possible addon that I think would benefit a lot of CRM/ILM users: email templates. More and more email providers can handle html, and it is relatively easy to script automatic alternatives for those that require text-only format. A few basic templates to serve as building blocks for more powerful email layouts would be ideal. We've had to make these from scratch to avoid paying service providers for a rather minimal task.

Hi guys, cool group.

Matt's comment about the ADF / XML is so typical. There are still some lead providers around that "simply don't get it." Applying parsing logic into the CRM was once a common task, but, the "standard" eliminated the need for most of it. If only we could get everyone to figure out what standards are for ;-)

Get this: I spent some time the other day dealing with a "lead provider" that was sending multi-part mixed messages as leads, complete with pictures and an attachment - what a riot.
