Business Analytics is an interesting career option for statisticians and econometrics enthusiasts. Individuals who can make sense of business performance data and are able to forecast the future sales, turnovers, or losses the firm might face are considered as professional business analysts.
There are several business analysis certifications available in the market, and many companies even prefer data scientists such as CDPs. IIBA is an organization that provides multiple certifications in this realm, such as Certification of Competency in Business Analytics (CCBA) and the more popular Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF PBA AND CBAP
Like all PMI certifications, PBA also requires candidates to prove their competency first through their educational background, training, and work experience. Candidates who have passed a college or university degree need to have three years of business analysis experience and 25 hours of training in the field.
CBAP, on the other hand, does not explicitly state that candidates need to have any kind of educational background. They do need to qualify some really intensive work experience criteria.
The PBA examination lasts for about four hours, which consists of 200 questions. Out of these 200 questions, 25 are unscored that determine the difficulty level for the rest of the 175 questions.
Both CBAP Certification & PBA programs are very much different in the way they certify individuals. However, candidates have to remember that they need to have work experience for both the exams and work hard to achieve it.
