re: Just FYI the Texas dealers are charged as a lead providing service w/ True Car not a per car sold as in other markets.  We actually had signed up and received a "group discount"....and our group decided yesterday to drop TrueCar as a lead provider (Opinion hear.....was the right choice and more dealers need to do the same.)  I have learned over the years that feedback does work both ways and from what my account rep told me today over the phone, the backlash from dealers accross the country can, is, and will have a continuing impact on the way they are operating.    

Over the last month our quantity of leads went up, our work levels went way up, and close ratios crashed due to the quality of the leads provided to us.  All work, little to no pay, makes for unhappy and less motivated sales people.    Pulling our DMS data and using it against us, especially in as competitive a business as car sales is, is not only bad for our business, but bad for our customers as well.

Scott Painter had his people call me. Scott Painter wants to have a call with me. What do you all think? Should I do it?  You think he wants to offer me a job?  Perhaps fly me in to show me his operations to try to prove to me that he is legit?  Please let me know your thoughts and opinions.  If anything comes out of this to anyone is that even little ole me can get the personal attention of someone as huge as Scott Painter.  This comes to show you that if you use the internet the right way you can get attention from the way up.

EVERY person reading this thread should take a look at this video where they take pains to point out they use ACTUAL SALES TRANSACTIONAL DATA . . .VIDEO HERE: http://blip.tv/this-week-in-youtube/truecar-1265643 and they claim 25% in this video, 75% was the goal, gathered data from banks . . . and banks, insurance, and ACTUAL DEALERS.  FROM SCOTT PAINTER'S OWN MOUTH.  At 6min57sec he says he uses data licensed from "ACTUAL DEALERS".  

DEALER DATA WARS:  REVOLUTIONS DON'T WAIT!

At 9min54 there is another discussion that's interesting.  In that minute after he goes into how this involves the BACKEND SYSTEMS OF DEALERS.

Very well said and will share with all automotive professionals and auto consumers I know.  Thought the same thing, never tested the theology as you did.  Every dealer in the U.S. should see this video.
