I have used this technique over the years. It's more than training, it's guiding. Leaders train and guide their staff down the right path. That causes records to be broken. Because of these techniques, my staff still holds records for sales in a couple Carmax stores...and that was over 5 years ago. We must keep our eye on the ball. Good stuff and very sound advice.
Thanks Richard. Great topic. Training is one of those practices that goes by the wayside on a busy week. For some dealers, training meetings are hard to "fit in" so that everyone can participate without eating up prime selling times. For some dealers, they can start a training program but have difficulty keeping it going -- between scheduling conflicts and finding interesting subject matter. Nevertheless, it is one of the very basic business practices that successful people do on a regular basis. Make sure your managers set up regular training sessions with their teams. If your managers are struggling with ideas on how to keep the sessions engaging, reach out to your peers for ideas. This group, NADA 20 Groups and many others can provide you with excellent training ideas and techniques. Good luck and keep training!
If all dealers followed these ideas, our industry would be in a much better, more professional, place. Good going, Richard!! Keep it up.
