Notice how the video cannot be shared, try click on the actual video and the fact it's not out on YouTube. I could change that quite quickly with a video snag tool and anonymously post to YouTube. ;-)

WAR IS  OVER - TEMPORARILY ANYWAY

NEWSFLASH- NEWSFLASH - NEWSFLASH

IT APPEARS THAT in a message on their website to dealers, that Cars.com is taking down the practice of emailing your customers. At Least, temporarily. Somebody please email me verification that it is over. They are saying it is discontinued BUT indicate it will resurface with "Volunteer Dealers" if I am hearing it correctly. Here is the message from Linda Bartman, the woman who evidently thought of all of this. They are claiming their test was a huge success. Please everyone investigate and get back with me and I'll pull down the videos if they have indeed backed off.  http://dealeradvantage.cars.com/da/2013/05/moving-forward-testing-n...

Thanks, I suppose silence is their best strategy right now or potentially a BS bureaucratic answer of some type. I believe you've broken their strategy process. Ha!

Good response Bill Pardue. Alexander, read the following

They are scrambling right now at Cars.com headquarters. A lot of meetings, and frankly they don't know how to handle this. They have told their field representatives NOT to comment as much as possible for now until they devise a better game plan to handle the uproar. NOT surprised they act as if they are unaware of this. GET SERIOUS! Do you believe for a moment Cars.com employees don't know about this??? I know of a couple of instances where Cars.com employees have allegedly told my dealers confidentially they are against what their company is doing here but are powerless to change it. They put out all of the spokes-persons including Brian using their talking points given to him Friday and some in-their-pocket bloggers from some other sites, BUT; it is NOT working. Negatives are running 10 to 1 against them from their customers WHO ARE THE DEALERS... and their customers are voting with their checkbooks. Watch what happens by Friday there will be a full scale uprising as this gains momentum.

I'd be interested to hear what Cars.com has to say. It seems as if Cars.com is dropping the ball by not posting a retort on both of James' recent posts. I wonder whom performs their reputation management services as they are not covering their wares and critical comments.

Yes, even giant groups such as Cars.com take the easy road or the path of least resistance in terms of what they sell. They just use their "big" name in order to sell processes that you could easily do yourself. Like you've suggested, they are just pulling down ONE GIANT XML FEED.

The process that you've suggested is a good one, I'll be looking into incorporating a similar process within an application and charge a rate. ;-)
