Google Now is way beyond what Siri can do.  For ICS users it has been ported over already.  I use the app/technology now, its great.  Google uses information based on your current searches "home" and "work" locations etc to provide you with "cards" with differnt types of info from traffic, weather, sports, calendar events and more.  I get alerts before, during and after football games.  I get traffic updates when I am going to and from work.  It gives me the option to check in at various locations.  For those of us that are paranoid about location tracking...this is not the app for you.

All fine and well.  More cool high tech stuff to keep up on.  I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm understaffed. Here on ADM and other sites including dealerELITE, there are so many of us who would have the others believe that they have the answer to using our wonderful internet to sell cars.

If you haven't figured it out yet, there ain't nobody who's got this figured out yet.  For thousands of years it's been the steps: Meet, greet, qualify, presentate, demonstrate, trial close, ask to buy, or some sort of variation.  Now,the internet has changed things forever. Surely for the better, but with so much of a robust set of tools.

We are not going to get a stamped out/hard wired set of procedure and protocol for the internet version of our sales world. We have wandered into a sales world of such complexity, its difficult to figure out what we need to be using, much less how to use it.

Great...Google NOW...it looks and sounds cool. Do I need it? Do I want it? Do I have the time/person. I don't know about you guys, but to me, it's all like a huge jigsaw puzzle...all these things are those tiny pieces.  How do they all fit together? Do they all fit together?  I can easily find 50 guys right here on these pages who will tell me how they all interlock...Do they really know?

"Beyond Siri"?  I never even heard of "Jelly Bean" until ten minutes ago.  And hey...I'm really well paid, and run the internet department for a pretty good sized group, and I got it goin' on...If you're telling me you got a firm handle on all this, I'm listening, but I'm skeptical.

It's a great ride, and I hope the car business is as good for you as it is for me.

Go well...live long and prosper!

Hopefully Google will make it available for ICS. Jelly Bean is too new and is probably on about 1% of Android phones at the moment, whereas ICS has about 18%.

Google Now is actually the next step in technology, beyond Siri. It's only available with Jelly Bean (Android's newest OS) and what I've read it takes some of the "searching" and hands-on to virtual and hands-off. My understanding is you set preferences (sports teams, restaurant types, movie categories, etc.) and based on your time of day will suggest what to do next. I'm anxious to see how this works and what has to be set or established up front for this to work. Here's an article that provides some extra details:

Anyone know what to do if when I voice my dealerships name, "Ken Stoepel Ford Lincoln", Google Now doesn't recognize what I am saying?

From a strategic positioning perspective, I see Google Now as the alternative to iOS Siri on iPhones and iPads.  The intersection of GPS location with time of day is fascinating.  Let the competitive development wars continue... Will Siri include contemporaneous integration like Google Now seems to have?
