Sean, I have to say I agree with you. Ultimately, TrueCar exists for a reason. That reason being is that our customer base is searching for the experience that we as an industry just aren't providing as a whole. I have used TrueCar for years, and yes against my better judgement stuck with them even through the rough patch... I have really looked at this hard over the last few days, and finally came up with the decision that although I DON'T agree with the way this program was rolled out (with an email at 8:30pm four days before it goes into effect) I do believe in the concept behind the program, and I haven't ever had an issue with ROI through the TrueCar program. Well, I take that back, I was with a Mazda store for awhile that decided that they needed to have the lowest price in the market and lost on every sale and then complained about it. That was their fault though and not TrueCars. I price my cars on TrueCar the same way I price my cars on my site, sometimes a little less depending on the model, sometimes a little more, but close to the same nevertheless. I looked back over the reports and even the first month our store was on the program and only sold 2 vehicles, we paid like $800 to get back over $7k so I don't really think that even if I have to pay for a few that I don't want to, that it still makes sense from a business standpoint. If you aren't getting the ROI, then change your pricing or get out of the program. That simple, new write off policy or not.
