For the last 20 years I have been working in automotive dealerships on a daily basis. As I progressed from the Sales Floor to the General Manager's office, I watched the digital piece become a large part of the business. Not simply customers shopping for vehicles, but also service customers, vendor research, and potential employees.

In my role as Director of Business Development for a large Dealer Group, I found myself listening to vendors pitch me products that sounded amazing. The problem was I had no idea how to measure their success or failure. I soon realized I had to up my game if I wanted to remain valuable. I researched every product I could find. I asked every question, and used the products from both customer facing and dealer facing sides. I also realized that Google was here to stay. I began managing our Ad Words account not only to save money, but to learn the advantages of advertising on the Search, Display, and Mobile networks. I added Google Ad Words Certified Professional to my list of skills.

With a more thorough understanding of the Digital side of the business, it was time to take action. I reviewed vendors, employees, and processes to ensure the most effective system and practices possible were being utilized. In reviewing each vendor's contract we were able save thousands of dollars by renegotiating current agreements or eliminating duplicate services.
