Good morning! Have a question for you regarding inboxes and one of those ISP's (Comcast). Can you point me in the right direction. I was going back through your DD presentation and your sitituation with Cox but I am having trouble finding where to go with Comcast.

Ralph: I was thinking that you may want to create occassional "boost campaigns" to increase your membership... most of us like you & want to support you but like most people don't really think about it...
You know how we can "invite friends" to join? What if occasionally (say every 3-4 months) you ASKED us in a personalized email to invite 3 people who we think would welcome the invitation & add to the ADM community? If you send this request to 3,000 of us and 10% of us take you up on it (x 3 invitations each) that's 900 invitations; sent out 4 times a year that's 3,600 invitations... if 10% join that's an extra 360 members per year (a ~15%+ increase per annum based on your current numbers) & then you have the magic of compound growth...
I know... WHY am I thinking of this??? Don't tell me you don't work out other people's marketing campaigns in your head even if you don't know them... just a reflex :)
...by the way, your music selection right now is "House of the Rising Sun"... have you heard the Nina Simone rendition? If not, you may want to check it out. (I'm on I-Tunes as I'm writing this putting together playlists; one of them is named "Cabriolet": songs to play while cruising PCH in a convertible at sunset, belting out tunes...)
Hi Ralph... I'm responding to your quarry regarding the value of the ADM chat feature versus load times: My preference & my recommendation differ, but I'll give you both...
My preference is to keep the chat feature because I find it curious to see who's online at different times.
My recommendation is to can it because your membership seems to me to be composed primarily of males and in my experience such are an impatiernt demographic and more likely to click off with longer load times so I think you may be losing visitors, especially new ones, as they are not yet vested in the ADM community, value or brand.
If a "test canning" is not technologically cumbersome, you may want to try canning chat for 2-3 months, watch visitor numbers along with comments re: missing/wanting chat and then decide. I predict that your numbers will go up in a scale far outweighing those of us who may miss the chatting.
If testing is a nightmare, I vote for canning it to help you grow your membership.

I am associate publisher at Automotive Industries and was surfing whilst researching and came across your network, so I decided to "get on board" as they say.Although I work in the sector at the OEM Tier1/2 supplier chain I though that I might network my way into other expertise from the other interconnected elements of the automotive enterprise. I am particularly interested in contacting any groups involved with PHEV, EV, alternative drive systems/fuels/Hybrid technology, embedded software developers, / vehicle-egine-chassis management, 3G telematics sectors. Clean tech companies.
