I am still in love with this job, and I think it’s in large part because it’s about keeping an open mind and always learning -- I'd hate to be in a job that wasn't.  Each time I’ve reached out to this virtual community for some help, the response has been prompt, and I do keep learning how to get all of this done better. 

So I thought I’d share some good news, and let everyone here know that their suggestions were, in fact, helpful.

After some decent search engine optimizing to our web site by Vin Solutions over the past year and our own building up of a respectable Google Places Page, I asked this community during the summer, Why is Google punishing us?

 

I took your advice, and this screen shot show what happened:


 

The Places Page impressions count returned to pre-summer levels once we cleaned up the phone number (replaced a toll-free tracking number with our published White Pages switchboard local number), responded to reviews and added some content (photos, video etc.) as you suggested.  It worked, as the blue line shows to the far right, but the actions have not yet follow, as you can see in the green line, over this summer and fall.  Not yet, at least.

 

Any suggestions from the group?

 

We also invested in Adwords Express back in August, hoping to replace the lost impressions quicker than the organic fix would likely take, and that certainly helped, but the CTR for the paid campaign is not as high as I would like, or as high as the organic click-through rates have been for us, which they were intended to supplement.


So this is still a work in progress.  Best news of all, however, is that the organic search results for our dealership took a marked turn for the better, as a current screen shot of a search for "Chevrolet dealership in Richmond VA" shows.  Could this improvement over the way things appeared in August be due to the Google Panda update as much as our cleaning up the Places Page?

 

I don't know.  I've got a lot to learn.  But I just thought I'd share some good news, and let you all know when your support and advice is golden.  Thanks again!  And if any of you can recommend what I can do to get a higher level of conversions on my Places Page, please reply.
