Manny,

Thank you for pointing out the 2013 models still being shown on the model showroom pages.  The ADM community & your efforts to bring attention to this where a success – the issue has been fixed!  At Cobalt it is important to provide dealers with the best digital marketing solutions the industry has to offer – and when we learn of an issue, we take action to resolve it as quickly as possible.  It was also a pleasure to speak with you on the phone and I look forward to working together in the future.

Cobalt is owned by ADP...that should tell you something.  Not to diss ADP only, but any of these companies that get purchased by conglomerates with tons of other businesses get treated like a government entity. Creativity and ingenuity as well as innovation suffer.  About the only exception I see so far is vAuto...Dale Pollak is still at the helm and runs it as his own...still.

Thanks Jeff!

We work with dealerships across the country, and look at many different platforms.

My goal is to have this post speed up the OEM updates and help all the dealers!

Please share, and tweet this post out to everyone!!!

Manny,

you bring up very valid points. And I couldn't agree more. I did frame in to solve a problem  of the usual answer " No we can't do that" answers from OEM providers.

And yes Cobalt is getting paid to keep all sites up to date and to today's standards. but they are a slow wheel when it comes to making a change.

As for PPC/SEM I just had this argument with our OEM rep, he came in all gung ho about changing labels on the individual listings to show a "E Price label" so it would drive more emails.

I asked him the simple question, why is my site running at 68% performance grade way below the bench mark of 80% to get Google and Bing to crawl efficiently to bring me more organic traffic.  His answer, "It too hard to do with Car dealer site"  Bad answer, my second site not with the OEM runs at a 86%  and brings in a lot more traffic than the OEM site.   Yet we are spending money for PPC/SEM on a site that is not performing the way it should be to make my dollars more efficient. So to answer your thoughts on why they wont change so they can charge more money.....In my opinion YES! My hands are tied though on spending the money with the OEM because they say you have to with THEIR vendors.

Have you looked at your OEM site using tools.pingdom.com or Yslow?  you will shocked at how bad your site really is.

Jeff,  I framed in a lot of my great site's to my cobalt site????

Why do this when you shouldn't have to? Also have you seen the content you framed in on smartphones? Looks like crap!

Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Cobalt been paid for the updates already?

What's the real reason for this? They know what happens to a site when you add fresh content to it. It helps the site organically. Is this the main reason why they haven't done the updates? So they can keep charging more for PPC and SEM?

We need to make this happen ASAP!

Unfortunately, we do not run a separate site like others do. I would like to, don't get me wrong, and I've met a couple of people that are saying that in Seattle the customer service is par none.

Cobalt had great intentions in their pre-ADP days. They used to invite the dealers to their offices in Seattle, and truly listen and make changes based upon the feedback. Unfortunately, at the same time all of the OEM's bought into the whole we can control and maintain all of your OEM sites for a fraction of what it would have cost back in the day when this was all negotiated.

If you are lucky enough to run a second site separate from the Cobalt Clone sites, I framed in a lot of my great site's to my cobalt site to get around their lack of wanting to make changes.

Their are some great people that work up in the Seattle office at Cobalt that have been there for years that still truly care....I would change your account advocate to some one that has YOUR dealerships best interest at heart.

Just my two cent's worth :)

Manny, I have many frustrations with Cobalt.  For one,  the website editor sucks, it forces you to put everything in blocks. It's very hard to make the home page look nice, also they go and update meta descriptions and tags and even the website without even telling you they are.

When I discuss these things with the rep, he's rude and insulting. Saying that he knows what's best is very passive aggressive.

Cobalt is bad for the GMC industry no doubt, it makes every single website the same. From descriptions to appearance, to everything! It's making every dealership the same and making it hard for some to stand out.

And that's my rant for the day.
