Who buys into a long term car or people carrier agreement?

Leasing a vehicle on a long term basis has always been a popular option for people who might require a vehicle for either:

a) an extended period of time, or

b) for their organisation on renewable basis.

The benefits of entering into a long-term car hire, van hire or people carrier hire agreement are obvious. You get all the benefits of practically owning a vehicle without the added long-term commitment and cost of keeping it running.

The kinds of people or organisations who take out these kinds of deals are just as diverse as the kinds of vehicles you can actually get under long-term hire agreements. Some of these customers you'll no doubt be familiar with - be it directly, or indirectly.

Business persons

Sometimes renting a vehicle on a short-term basis just isn't enough in the world of business. When it comes to the company credit card - although paid for - your business doesn't necessarily want to write off dozens of repeated lease agreements. It's time consuming for one. It can also be uneconomical.

What is better, particularly for overseas businessmen or women coming to the UK for a fixed period of time, is to get a long-term hire agreement.

The range of cars on offer probably isn't that much different from the rental company's short-lease cars; however, you're probably more likely to get a more efficient vehicle that's designed to be driven on a daily basis.

Labourers/private company

Perhaps long-term van leases might also appeal to those who want a vehicle for a temporary job in the manual labour industry too. Why fork out - or indeed drive a van for hundreds of miles - if a labouring or utility company scores a job on the other side of the UK?

Renting out a van, knowing completely what kind of condition its in, can be a great alternative to purchasing a vehicle, or relying on the workforce to bring their own.

Office transport

Car pooling is a popular - and green - method of getting workers into the office; it's catching on too. While some workers are deciding to take turns driving one another to work where possible, some companies are leasing out entire coaches or mini-buses to do this for them.

Most commonly a mini-bus picks up passengers in a popular, central town or city location, where it's easy for workers to get to - either by walking or public transport. They then take them to out-of-town workplaces, which aren't easily accessible by any other means other than car.

Schools not surprisingly have a need for transporting children to the local swimming pool, ice rink, sports hall, or other sporting venture as part of their Physical Exercise (PE) lessons. Many schools of course, aren't blessed with having these facilities to hand, making leasing an affordable option.

School mini buses can also take children out on school trips, providing they're well-behaved that is! The fuel economy of taking children on these trips can be better using a mini bus, rather than renting out a coach to carry out the same duty.
