The best, most meaningful and highest ROI consumer engagement comes from posting real-world stories, interesting photos, videos and self deprecation that establishes the genuine humanity within your dealership's organization along with creating desire among people using social media to meet your dealership's employees... yes, the PEOPLE in your dealership, because they want to do business with people they LIKE!

I do not have any nuns, but we do have a cage on the back of an F450, so we are halfway there.  I can get the nuns from my kids school.  Let's see how that video works!

I agree with Timothy Martell... It is obvious from this article that we need to stock more Army Surplus Tanks in our used car inventory!  However... My Catholic upbringing longs to see those Cage-Fighting Nuns... I know how tough Nuns can be, so this is a very appealing concept to me.

Scott - Good insights... For over 100 years car dealers have used stories to help sell cars, and social media is a platform that is optimized for story telling!

Ralph, thank you for sharing (and attributing it) as well as your very insightful comment to lead this discussion.

In my experience I've found that simply taking what we know from face-to-face communication and applying that on social sites - as opposed to taking what we know from internet-based lead generation and applying it on social sites - works well. Every dealer worth his or her salt knows how to relate to people and tell stories. We all need to remember those talents here.

Tom - Your comment about comments on ADM is so true... It also made me think about a phone call I received from Brian Pasch where he wanted to let me know that when he posts the same article on multiple different online automotive networks, that the best comments he sees come from the ADM Community.  Of course I am biased, so I agreed with Brian wholeheartedly! But, there-in lies the rub... The ADM Forum is set up for much more effective commentary and interaction with the ability to respond directly to comments.  Of course, the blogs generate the majority of commentary, but it is all good!
