What Is Google Doing By Summarizing VDP Data in Search Results?

I always try to keep this community up to date with the latest search trends and changes in Google.  We have been noticing some interesting "summary" pricing results on certain search queries that include automotive classified websites.

If you look at the search results shown below, Google is pulling out VDP data, and summarizing this data is the SERP.  We have a good idea why this is happening but the answers would be premature to publish at this time.


If this a result of "micro-tagging"?  We think Not.


As Google evolves, is this a snippet of what is to come in the future?  Will Google provide VDP summaries in search results that would negatively impact search traffic to,, or

It is too early to say, but I wanted to remind everyone that we will be keeping an eye on this and will post members on future changes.

This is an interesting development. I have also noticed that the same type of itemized summery is being applied to sites like Slideshare. This expanded listing makes utilizing Manufacturer brochures even more important to a dealers SEO strategy.

Here you can see it is also being applied to video listings, but only for YouTube. My guess is that this is due to the Panda 2.5 release that favors Googles own video channel. If you have not yet made the commitment to make video a large part of your dealerships SEO gameplan, this development should be considered a wake-up call.

I can imagine seeing Google "roll up" VDP summaries for make/model searches in a similar manner to what they do today with customer review summaries by website in Google Maps...
