What are your thoughts on live online chat on your website(s)

I would love to hear your thoughts on live online chat on your websites. Do you think it is viable? Have you had or are you currently involved with a chat company? The good bad and the ugly...Somebody tell me why not every dealer in the world would not want to "talk" to every visitor on their website(s).

Offend me? HECK NO! I want everyones opinions about chat good, bad or indifferent. That's why I'm here to develope ideas and share so we can all be successful in this business. So do you work for a chat company? If so tell me what you think about the state of the industry as you see it.

Well Jason like I said in an earlier post one needs choose a provider carefully like anything else in the market place there are good providers and bad. The only way for a chat service to truly work is if they provide 24/7/365 live support and they need to be performance based just like the car business you probably lost conversion rates with the company you mentioned because there was no $ incentive to get you that lead. I also believe that if car people are running the chat company then there is a better understanding of the dealers needs and wants. There are a couple of companies that offer the service that I mentioned but only one that is soley run by former BDC directors, GMs, New and Used Car Mgrs, INet directors and that company is CarChat24.

I have gone with and without chat on our website. I would much rather have it than go without. I have also found out that is not all about the price. I used Client Connexion at first, then I tried to save some money and go with a company called They completely killed my chat conversion rates. They were alot cheaper, but they had NO RESULTS. At least with Client Connexion Elaine would randomly grab one of our chats if we were busy, and set the appt for us. We even had a higher per copy on chat visitors.
