I have to hand it to the people at Longo's Supermarket. They know how to ensure their clients have a great experience. In a previous article I wrote called If you want to stand out from the crowd, I wrote about just the type of thing I experienced today.
Myself, my wife and my 2 kids went to Longo's to pickup a few items as we often to on Saturdays, as we leave the store, one of their staff asks us "Would you like Umbrella service?"
Wow... Talk about a nice touch. We didn't partake, because quite frankly, it was just a light drizzle, but we talked about it during the ride home. You can bet we'll mention it to friends and family whenever we discuss groceries.
You see, There are about 10 different places where we can buy groceries within our immediate area. Add to that all the different places we go for soccer, hockey, ballet etc, and we could shop at about 25 to 30 different Supermarkets. Quite frankly, there are less expensive places we could shop... But the foods are not as good... But there are a few who are very similar in both product offering, and prices... What separates them is the level of service.
If I'm spending the same in 2 locations, but one offers a more impressive level of service... Where do you think I will go?
So think to yourself... Are you doing everything you can do to give that WOW factor to your clients?
When it's pouring rain outside... Are you offering to walk you client to their car? Heck... Why don't you go even further and buy a few hundred cheap umbrellas with your logo on them and give one to your client when they leave...
If your client's car has been sitting in the hot sun all day, why don't you go start it for them and turn on the A/C, and bring it to the door while your cashier is cashing them out? With today's technology, you could even have your shuttle driver text you when the client enters the shuttle so you can have it sitting by then door when they arrive.
There are so many little things you can do to set yourself apart from your competitors... You just need to stop and think about it.
As usual, your thoughts and feedback are always appreciated.
