Professional Community for Car Dealers, Automotive Marketers and Sales Managers

As more companies in every type of industry add live chat to their website and more consumers prefer using text to communicate, chat use continues to rise. Here are just a few places people CHAT socially:

  • Facebook
  • Cell Phones
  • Dating websites
  • Skype

One trend that is starting to take hold in the market that automotive dealers can adopt is to TELL PEOPLE you have live chat on your website! This is reminiscent of the early days of the web, when it was cutting edge to actually have a dealership website, and marketers encouraged businesses to include their web address in all marketing channels - something we take for granted today.

This is true of live chat, as well. If you have chat on your dealership website, start telling your shoppers, just like the legal firm does in the screen shot of their TV ad above. Some chat providers can actually provide a direct link to the your chat interface through a custom URL. Here are a few ideas for spreading the word and increasing your leads and sales through a well-executed chat strategy:

  • YouTube
  • Facebook
  • Other social media sites
  • Google Adwords
  • Newspaper ad
  • Billboard
  • Sponsorships and Promotions
  • Even radio and television

The more ways people have to communicate with you, the greater your odds of selling another vehicle. The market is stronger than ever, so be sure to take advantage of this technology to boost your sales.

CHAT WARNING: Just like a 30-minute oil change or 10-minute trade appraisal, if you make a promise, you must follow through. There are several key factors to ensure your website chat is successful, so be sure these are in place when you start encouraging your shoppers to connect through chat.

Since there seems to be a segment of the car buying population that prefers live chat over other communication channels, it only makes sense to advertise and promote your live chat capabilities, and include direct links to make it easier for customers to connect with your chat agents.
