Top 10 Most Annoying Social Media User Types

What types of social media users annoy you the most?

According to Jeff Bullas. "Social media is the amplification of humanity".

  • Have you ever been to an auto industry conference and attended a reception where you had to listen to someone talk about themselves for hours?

  • Attended an NADA dealer reception and had the most intriguing conversation with a woman who gave new meaning to the concept of a little black dress?

  • Been invited to a co-worker's home and subjected to so many rotating views of their children's baby photos on monitors throughout the home that you called your physician the next day to make an appointment for a vasectomy!

According to Bullas; "Facebook is insights, conversations and news on steroids."

Social Media (in general) portrays many of the aspects of our personalities and behavioral characteristics that define the essence of humanity...

Of what makes us human. This takes on a whole new perspective when you realize that what people post is accessible and visible to BILLIONS of people. Each of us humans may be different in multiple ways, we can be fun and we can also be quite  boring.  What we see on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites is a kaleidoscope of human emotions, events of many types and plentiful does of what can only be described as truly bizarre.

That's the real reason over a billion people visit Facebook... Social media is the ultimate voyeur's paradise. You can always find something that you know you were not supposed to see and it is often times quite entertaining.

So what entices so many people to reveal too much about themselves on social media sites? Could it be narcissism, personal vanity or the human need to vent and get things of off our chest? Interestingly enough, the more annoying the content posted is, the more likely it is be noticed and then shared with each user's hundreds, or even thousands of their closest "friends".

Shown in the Infographic below are the results of a fun survey from Jeff Bullas to reveal the 10 most annoying types of people on social media:

Who and what annoys you the most on Facebook?

  • Is it the loved up couple?
  • The shameless self promoter?
  • The update addict?
  • The vendor that posts the same product pitch over and over again?

Ummmmmm Tom?  A combo kitty/giraffe?  Now THIS I've got to see!!

Thank you for clarifying Cherie.  I definitely agree with you about buying likes.  What's the point?  Now about that giraffe with the kitten's head.  My daughter put that up on my personal page and I thought it was kinda cute!  (smile)

May I add one comment..... DO NOT allow your SEO Hotshot to BUY "likes" from Timbuktoo and other places around the globe.  They are fake, they mean nothing and when ours did that, I hit the ceiling.  Ditto with YouTube.  For about 10 bucks, he purchased 12,000 names.....every YT video has statistics which anyone can see.  So you get 12K viewers in one day and then you flat line.  Not only is it against YT TOS, but you can be suspended or permanently banned from You Tube.  Don't let Mr. Hotshot put you in this position (on either YT or FB).  'Nuf said.......

Sorry, Tom.  I realize my figure was misleading.  I'm NOT talking about business pages - I'm referring to my personal Timeline.  HUGE DIFFERENCE.  My 350-plus personal friends/followers bore the hell out of me - I already gave you the reasons why (kitties and giraffes!).  My business page is another story altogether.  I like, want and respect 100% of them and their comments. They comment about our inventory, the 'tips and tricks' of car maintenance I post, copies of reviews and they love the auto related posts I provide them.   I have two "No-No's"........religion and POLITICS.  Other than those, it's ANYTHING GOES and I adore all of my "Likes".  My page is highly diversified and you'll never find a GIRAFFE!!  ;)  I actually sold a car via Facebook last week and am working on another.....this isn't part of my job description nor do I get paid for it. But it's a way to have ongoing conversations with the prospective buyer that other fans read.  As I said......'anything goes'!

Ah Cherie, you say that, "90% of Facebook users shouldn't be using Facebook.  As an individual, with my own likes and dislikes, I will agree with you.  But we often make the mistake of thinking that the average user (90%?) feels the same way we do.  I say that if 90% of users are using it wrong, then they are right.  I would rather market to the 90% stupid users than the 10% smart users.  Whadaya think?

ALL OF THE ABOVE......PLUS PICS OF YOUR KITTY, PUPPY and lately (I could choke the person who started this)..... GIRAFFES!!!!!  I am bored and ignore most of them but one TICKS ME OFF and I've actually posted status updates (on my personal, NOT BUSINESS) page......"Leave me alone damnit.......I am NOT going to play Candy Crush please STOP ASKING".  90% of Facebook users shouldn't be using Facebook.  Period.......

I think everyone who is active on Facebook is guilty of some of these things some of the time.  The thing that amazed me was actually the low percentages, 5-10% in most cases.  If we like someone, we're apt to put up with things that seem overboard or annoying.  Otherwise Facebook wouldn't exist.
