Social Media (in general) portrays many of the aspects of our personalities and behavioral characteristics that define the essence of humanity...
Of what makes us human. This takes on a whole new perspective when you realize that what people post is accessible and visible to BILLIONS of people. Each of us humans may be different in multiple ways, we can be fun and we can also be quite boring. What we see on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites is a kaleidoscope of human emotions, events of many types and plentiful does of what can only be described as truly bizarre.
That's the real reason over a billion people visit Facebook... Social media is the ultimate voyeur's paradise. You can always find something that you know you were not supposed to see and it is often times quite entertaining.
So what entices so many people to reveal too much about themselves on social media sites? Could it be narcissism, personal vanity or the human need to vent and get things of off our chest? Interestingly enough, the more annoying the content posted is, the more likely it is be noticed and then shared with each user's hundreds, or even thousands of their closest "friends".
