Change ~ the one word that describes what is always happening, the one thing that is always consistent. Sometimes we make the change or are involved with the change, other times we do not control the change and all we can do choose how we respond to it. Attitude, commitment, and growth determine the success of change.
“Change is the essence of life. Being willing to surrender what you are
for what you could become” ~ Unknown
We have all heard that attitude can change everything. Well you may not be able to change everything but the one thing you can always change is your attitude. Having the right attitude can determine how painful the growing pains of change are; you have to smile when it hurts the most.
When I think of growth, I remember being a little girl and having severe leg cramps, my mom would always say they were growing pains. I told her if it hurt that bad then I did not want to grow. Well I made it through the growing pains but not without change. In order to grow I had to make sacrifices and learn new things, (even if it meant lying on the cold kitchen floor). There is always room for growth when there is change but you have to be willing to make sacrifices and want to learn new things. You have to be committed.
Commitment is the price you are willing to pay in the face of adversity to ensure the outcome is success. Someone I admire, George Dans, once said, “If you are leaving you options open then you are not committed”. Once you decide to commit 100%, you will want growth, choose a positive attitude and accept change.
“We must become the change we want to see.” ~ Gandhi
