The Force is with this one: A Look at Darth Vader Inspired 2018 Ford Mustang

If you think the Joker or Bane is the greatest supervillain of all time, think again! These supervillains, without an iota of doubt, have made us all loath their existence (even leaving us in awe at their occasional display of ingenuity and brilliance), however, there is a supervillain etched in pop culture folklore, who has terrorized the entire galaxy. No points for guessing, we are talking about the evilest Sith Lord humanity has ever seen, Darth Vader! Spanning over 10 movies, and numerous merchandise lines, the supervillain has terrorized generations with his infamous mask and left many other in awe at his superior combat and Jedi skills.

Given the impact Darth Vader has had on pop culture, no discussion with regard to the evolution of super villains is complete without taking a look at how once the most powerful Jedi, humanity’s ray of hope, turned to the dark side. Similarly when discussing the evolution of cars, one cannot simply overlook the legacy of Ford Mustang.

Drawing Parallels between the two Icons
The first Mustang was launched way back in the 1960s. Since then the brand has become synonymous with affordability and reliability. Calling Mustang the Darth Vader of cars won’t be an over the top comparison. Like the Sith Lord, the Mustang is known for its monstrous power, intimidating looks, and like Darth Vader, who has no major vulnerabilities and is a fighting machine, the Mustang is known to perform and make inroads into areas where conventional vehicles fear to tread.

And Ford is all set to bring two legends together
These are exciting times to be a car enthusiast and a pop culture fan. Batmobiles, Bond cars, and an ensemble of customized cars from the Fast & Furious franchise, just when you thought you had seen it all, Ford has some great news for you! The iconic manufacturer is all set to launch a Darth Vader inspired Mustang in 2018.

Design Elements
According to Melvin Betancourt, Ford’s design manager, the company wanted the latest version of Mustang to look aggressive, so they (obviously!) took inspiration from one of the most evil intergalactic warrior humanity has ever known. According to Ford:

  • The Mustang’s nose is inspired by Vader’s mask.
  • The fog lamp scoops and front-end shape derives inspirations from the angled nostrils and contours of Vader’s mask.
  • The lower front end is inspired by Vader’s mouthpiece.
  • The sharp angles imitate the contours of Vader’s helmet.

And that’s not all! After all a supervillain such as Darth Vader too cannot operate in isolation. To back the cool design features, the car comes with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and an enhanced manual transmission. Standard features include- a rearview camera, cruise control, and ambient lighting.

Are you excited? We are!
For avid car enthusiasts, right now there are few things more exciting than taking a first look at the Vader inspired Mustang. Car lovers and comic nerds, world over are going gung ho about witnessing their cherished dream of two icons coming together turn into a reality. If you too are excited and can’t wait for your chance to get behind the wheel, you’ll have to wait till 2018 when the model hits the market. In the meanwhile, if you need a car without digging deep into your pocket, participate in seized car auctions, police repossession auctions, or repo car auctions to get a salvage car at dirt cheap prices.
