The Do's And Don'ts Of Getting Rid Of Your Junk Car

When it comes to saying goodbye to an old car that you have had for what seems like a lifetime, you may quickly realize that you have no idea what to do with it. Especially if Your old ar has been sitting outside in the front yard unable to be driven anywhere with parts that wiggle and wobble and just don't work. You may love that old car, but it has got to go. So what are your options: sell it, sell it for parts, take it to a junkyard to be scrapped, give it to someone who can restore it? What is the best way to get rid of your old loveable, but junky car? How can you unload it and maybe make some money off of it at the same time? If you sell it to someone how can you be sure they are a trustworthy person to sell too? Below is a comprehensive list of do's and don'ts when it comes to getting rid of your old junk car.

Selling It

You can sell your old car online on places like Ebay, Craigslist, and you can even sell it on places like Facebook marketplace if you know how to do that. All you have to do is take some good quality pictures of the car and put it on your selected online platform. You may want to add in details such as the selling price, the car's mileage and any features or issues it may have.

The biggest advantage to selling your cars on platforms like this is that you can advertise your old car for free and have a better chance of getting rid of it faster.

If you do sell your car to an independent buyer, make sure you have all of the maintenance records as well as the title ready to sign over!

Don't Just Give Your Junk Car Away

You may think that your old car is nothing but a piece of junk and worth nothing to anyone, and it may not be worth much. However, do not just give it away! This may seem like the easy way out and less work for you, but no matter how old your car is, it still has some value. You can get money for your old car by selling it to a junkyard or sell it to an independent buyer for spare parts. Getting something for your old car, even if it's not much, could still help cover a couple of months of payments for your new car!

Do In-depth Research

Before selling your old car to a junkyard, do thorough research on the local junkyards in the area, like the junkyards in Davie Florida. You need to look for the one who will buy the type of car you are getting rid of, and ask around at different places to find the junkyard that will give you the best deal! Also, keep in mind that junkyards fluctuate in how much they pay for junk cars, so only begin checking for prices a few days before you are ready to actually sell the car.

If you are going to sell to an independent buyer, make sure you do your research on your vehicle and include any repairs it needs and the mileage it has. From this get an honest appraisal (can be done for free online) of how much your car is worth so that you can sell it for a price that is realistic.

Don't Sell Your Car Piece By Piece

A lot of people try to sell their old car's parts that are still in great working order to try and get more money for each part than they would for the car as a while. But the truth is that no one who is looking for used car parts is going to be willing to pay top dollar, no matter how good of condition the parts are in. This is especially true if the parts are coming from a car that is going to the junkyard after the good parts are sold off. It could also take months and months to sell off the good parts of your car and your front yard will end up becoming the junkyard, and at that point, you still have to find a way to get rid of a car shell, which a junkyard will pay next to nothing for. In the end, it is more of a headache than anything to try to sell your junk car part by part and can actually be a fruitless effort.

Don't Do Business With Junkyards That Are Not Reputable

Just as all car sellers are not as good as others, the same goes for junkyards in Davie Florida that buy old cars. There are certainly several on the market that just do not have the reputation that you want: they may not pay well, they may tell you a price and give you a different number at the day of the sell. The important thing is to read online reviews from other people to gather accurate information. Go to the junkyards in person, don't just go online or call up there, go up in person and get an in-person feel for h they treat their customers and a first-hand account for what their policies are.

DO Provide Truthful And Accurate Information About Your Car

Lying to people about the specifications of your car will never go well, and you will not get more money out of the sale of your old car this way. Whoever is buying the car from you will find out that you were lying about your car and you can end up not only with a mess on your hands but with some serious legal issues on your plate as well. It is best to avoid these issues altogether and be honest and upfront from the very beginning. Thee best way to get the most money for your old car without going through too much of a painful hassle is to be honest upfront and provide all the accurate information you have about the car. Be as transparent as you can so that the buyer, whether it be a junkyard or a personal independent buyer, knows what they are getting before they buy the car off of your hands.

If you go to a junkyard to sell your car, they will use the car's details like the make, model, and year, to give you a base offer for the car. This is a big part of their business so they will know right off the bat if you are lying about the car. If you give them embellished or details that are inaccurate about the car over the phone and they make you an offer, but the car does not match up with the primary description when they see it, then they will not be able to give you the amount that they first estimated for you. If you do not provide the correct year of the car or the right mileage that is on it you could also be doing yourself a disservice and end up undercutting yourself.

If you are trying to get rid of your old car, there are several to do's and not to do's before you unload it. The biggest thing to remember is to do your research and ask around in order to find the best offer on the table for your old car.
