Sooner The Better: Why You Should Tune Up Your Engine Before The Cold

Winter can be a beautiful time of year. It’s not, however, always great for your engine.
If you’re thinking about a tune-up, it’s probably a good idea to go ahead and get it done now. Below are just a few of the reasons why you should tune up your engine before the cold sets in.

Timing Is Everything

The world of auto repair is one that lives and dies by scheduling. Honest, certified mechanics are often very busy during the year and plan their days off according to the needs of their customers. A fair number of these days off occur during the colder part of the year, especially towards Thanksgiving and Christmas. More closed shops mean less of a chance for you to get your engine checked out and more of a chance for real problems to occur. If you want to make sure you can catch engine problems before they occur, you’ll need to get into a shop, like Redford Auto Repair, soon.

Beating The Holiday Rush

Colder weather means an abundance of holidays. These are some of the busiest days of the year for travel, so many motorists decide to hedge their bets by getting their cars checked out before they travel. That means longer waits at most auto shops and, unfortunately, less of a chance to shop around if you do have a problem. It’s always a good idea to get your engine tuned up before the holidays get here so you don’t have to wait weeks to make an appointment. Get in now to beat the holiday crowds.

Dangerous Conditions

Cold weather can also be dangerous for a number of reasons. It brings with it dangerous driving conditions, but the cold can also be dangerous on its own. If you don’t get your vehicle out to a certified mechanic before it gets too cold, you might find yourself stuck on the side of the road when the temperature outside drops to a dangerous level. While most certified mechanics will do their best to see customers no matter what, you also run the risk of finding most shops closed when the cold weather gets too dangerous outside.

Remember, the cold makes engine problems more dangerous and harder to get fixed. If you think you need a tune-up, it’s a good idea to go ahead and get it done now. The longer you wait, the more issues you might run into as the weather begins to change.
