Absolutely, Alexander. "Faster, better, cheaper" will, as always, win the day :-)

Joe, I see where you are coming from and I assume that platform delivery will surely include a site responsive / flexible enough to bend at any given time for any device or resolution. A much easier process in the long run. :-)

It is going to be exciting how mobile will integrate with everything.... not only with technology but also how vehicles are connect to our mobile devices....

These are compelling #s.  Mobile obviously needs to be at the forefront of our digital marketing strategies. SoLoMo is a great umbrella perspective on the opportunity and challenge.  While I agree with the comments here recommending a unified Web/SEO, e.g., responsive approach, I would suggest that mobile and indeed Web UI technology will take a significant leap in the next 12-24 months.  For example, we are tracking several next generation rich media / social delivery platforms that absolutely eclipse the current working set of mainstream Web delivery technologies.  We are advising our clients to expect at least one major breakthrough in cross-device, interactive content delivery platforms in 2013.  Which of course bodes well for an exciting 2013 in the digital world!

Great thread.

Andrew, I agree, mobile has be taken greatly into consideration, but dealer's should be going down the responsive web design path. Kill two birds with one stone, not separate the requirement and the added resources, creating additional work for yourself, by having two sites. I see this mistake commonly made and the larger OEM-approved vendors are glad to sell you two options. More money in it for them.

I am convinced the next round of valuable dealer services will be built with mobile as the primary user interface.  People use their phones more than any other device. Naturally, if dealers do not deliver content to what is the dominant platform, they will not maximize their success in the long run.

Ahhhhhhhhh... yes great group, Monetate. They've a number of different tools and services worth-while such as their Huge fan of their resources. One thing I'd like to mention, dump mobile sites, too many dealers have these in place, because their websites aren't flexible enough. You're better off designing one site that is 'responsive' in nature, scalable / flexible (same code / site, SEO) across the board, which should work on all browsers and machines, especially mobile devices.
