Show Car: How to Safely Transport Your Prized Vehicle

It can be difficult to transport your vehicle if you don’t intend to drive it yourself. There are some basic steps that you should take to ensure that it arrives in pristine condition. Here are some of the things that you should consider to transport your prized vehicle to a car show.

Clear out Items

Clean out the miscellaneous items from the interior of your car. You don’t want them to shift around during transport and potentially cause damage to the interior of the vehicle. This would include items that you may have stored in the trunk, such as an emergency kit or even a toolbox. It’s okay to leave items that are strapped down inside the vehicle because they are less likely to move around.

Consider Transport Options

There are a couple different transport option types that are available, flat or partially lifted. The determining factor for how you decide to transport your vehicle will depend on the type of car, the drive train, and the condition of it. Another thing to consider is the type of transport service that you want to utilize. One option is to use a local towing service to get your car to the car show in one piece. Another option is to use a specialized vehicle transport service.

Lighten the Load

The less that your vehicle weighs, the more likely it is to arrive at the car show without any damage. What this means is that you want to lighten the load as much as possible. This would include making sure that the gas tank isn’t full. Another thing to consider is add-on items that could be in danger of ripping off in transit. Perform a thorough exterior inspection before the transport process starts so that you can identify any potential hazards.

Inspect the Exterior

The exterior of your vehicle is likely one of the contributing factors for why you want to showcase it in a car show in the first place. Check to ensure that the tires are properly inflated so that the vehicle doesn’t suffer any damage during transport. Remove the antenna, check for any leaking fluids, and make sure that the brakes are functional. Another thing that you might want to do is wash the exterior. This will prevent the paint from suffering from any scratches.

Taking these precautions will help to stack the deck in your favor when you’re transporting your prized vehicle to the car show. Set aside enough time to complete these tasks satisfactorily.
