Sean Wolfington Agrees to Serve as Chairman of the Board of VinSolutions

Overland Park, Kansas –February 13, 2010 – Sean Wolfington has agreed to serve as Chairman of the Board of VinSolutions, the industry leading automotive “Dealership

That would be BuzzTrack 3 (2 is current version)... We are doing pilots now, General Release should be by end of June. Depends on the Change Request list, it's growth or lack of. Let me give you a few hints; Imagine if Lead Scoring factored in the REAL reasons why some leads get sold and some do not... Think reality. Why does the same lead sent to one store result in claims of it being bogus, yet when it is sent to a different store, somehow a car is sold?

Sean is a Key element in helping us continue our tremendous growth plans and increase our customer support to levels not found in automotive today. Having known Sean long enough, and been through enough experiences with him to call him a true friend, I was surprised by how truly impressed he is with the VinSolutions CRM and Internet Lead Management system. Now, I do not claim to be an expert on VinSolutions, but I have used their system in conjunction with assisting dealer clients and while testing it out at Courtesy Chevrolet. There is no doubt that it is an impressive set of applications and the team of Doug, Mike and Matt at VinSolutions should be commended for their responsiveness and constant implementation of improvements in the applications they provide to dealers. But, I do have to admit that the MOST impressive feature I have seen has been how excited and enthusiastic Sean Wolfington has become since taking a deep dive into the VinSolutions application and feature sets...

For those that are not familiar with details of Sean's background and history, let me share just a couple of tidbits. First of all, after HAC Group was acquired by Reynolds and Reynolds, they placed Sean in charge of an acquisition that Reynolds had made by purchasing "DealerKid" CRM systems. I remember Sean as he dove into that Cincinnati based company and gave it the equivalent of a colonoscopy... He was relentless and driven to understand every nuance of the application, whether the features it had worked or not was irrelevant, he was insatiably driven to explore every nuance of every automotive process that inspired DealerKid's feature set. I knew that something was wrong when he asked me to help him find the missing "Code base" that any complex CRM application like DealerKid would have as a backed up and archived asset... Needless to say, when the day came that Reynolds erased all evidence of DealerKid's existence, terminating all the employees that had been brought on as part of the acquisition, I was neither surprised nor did I expect anything else to have been a viable move for Reynolds after the truth of DealerKid's origins was discovered.

Many people would judge the DealerKid CRM acquisition a failure, but i do not... For one thing, the intellectual capital that was acquired via Sean Wolfington's deconstruction of DealerKid's feature set was what drove the genesis of the Reynolds "Grand Slam" project, which resulted in the creation of Contact Management. To this day there are people who think that the server ID for Reynolds Contact Management named "GS.ReyRey.com" is an acronym for "Generation Series" the defunct next gen DMS that Reynolds squashed a few years ago... Wrong! The GS in the Contact Management server nomenclature originated from "Operation Grand Slam", the CRM development project that involved an enormous investment on the part of Reynolds, the use of many outside software development experts contracted for the project and the input of over half a dozen former Cyber Car/Half A Car Catalyst/Consultants to build and launch a hosted CRM application that would be intricately and intimately integrated with the Reynolds ERA DMS... What became Contact Management.

Although Sean Wolfington resigned from Reynolds shortly after Operation Grand Slam was underway, the key strategic points that Sean drove into every aspect of creating a world class CRM application based on a DMS remained a significant operating objective for the GS team. And for those of you that will complain about Contact Management, I would say that there are so few people who know that application deeply enough to understand the artificial intelligence features and it's points of integration with ERA that all complaints I have heard are more reflective of the lack of training than the application itself. However, knowing this part of Sean's background that is not common knowledge for those who have read his celebrity bio, I have to say that hearing Sean rant and rave about VinSolutions is pretty darned impressive.

Of course, Sean has not seen what my team at ADP and BZ Results is coming out with in the next generation of BuzzTrack (BuzzTrack/NetTrack III), so I can also conclude that when it comes to CRM and Lead Management applications, Sean and everyone else, including me, do not know what we do not know!
