Everyone knows word of mouth has gone the digital route. So it's important to have the publics' opinion there for everyone to see.

Utilizing every other social media vehicle not only directly effects customers responses to spend money at your dealership, but studies have found not participating could lead them to spend with your competitor. So sometimes it's not what you do, it's what you don't do!

Google recently dropped reviews from Dealerships' Google+ Local page for various reasons. Now everyone is trying to build their review supply back up. Tons of reviews were dropped because they were written on the same IP address. This could have been your Dealership's loyal service customers or new buyers on your dealership's device instead of their own. So the solution seems easy. Get them to review on their own device.

Although this is the simplest solution, most buyers that are carrying smart phones are iPhone users. Google has unfortunately blocked iPhone users from leaving reviews via the mobile site. They trying to push iPhone users to download the Google Local application to leave reviews. This is very cumbersome at point of sale. What customer is going to put away their credit card, break out their phone when prompted to leave a review, download the Google+ Local app, sign in, and then leave a review!? Chances are you won't build many reviews this way.

There is a simple solution to cure the iPhone blockage. You simply have to point the customers device to the direct search site on Google local. This will give them the opportunity to utilize their mobile devices web browser and leave the review. It's really that simple. If you need help please feel free to contact me.

Hey Shawn,

Great article. Quick question for you, wouldn't the dealerships wifi play into this equation too? The customer would need to disconnect the wifi and go 3G or 4G then submit the review right?

The worst part is that many negative reviews stayed up because customers who were mad about something went home and wrote the review.

The easiest way to help ensure you only get good reviews is to always ask the customer before they leave the lot how their experience was at your dealership.  If they had a negative experience, try to resolve any issues before they go home.

Thanks for the tip on how to use iPhones, and to make it easy for dealership customers to use their own iPhone or other device, which is the right way to do these types of onsite reviews...
