New Years Resolution - Don't loose weight rather GO MOBILE!

A few more days and we will say finally Good Bye to 2011 and a hopeful "Hello 2012". With blog posts, articles and predictions all over the net on "what will bring 2012", I wanted to focus on one "item" you should definitively have on your Resolution List 2012...

With an enormous increase of consumers upgrading from regular cell phones to smartphone devices (31% of 271 million phone subscribers using now smart devices [Nielsen Study and Charts Bin research]) the new market will and partially has been already the New Wild West for Marketeers.

We have seen in the last 2 years here and there a flare on the Advertising sky, wondering if this new star will make it somehow or just distinguish in the endless space of marketing and advertising orbit. Looking at the upcoming research figures and the Google provided video - we know by now that Mobile Advertising and its targeted Marketing will shine brighter than you could have ever imagine. In case you did not see the "light" by yet, believe me it is time to get onto board with this "Space Mission" and claim early on your lot on this to be soon overpopulated resourceful star:

  • according to Google, ninety per cent of mobile searches lead to an action, whereas more than half of them resulting into a purchase

  • 1 out of 4 American Smartphone Users opening their browser now exclusively on their mobile device and do not even touch any longer their desktop engine at home according to On Device Research.

 

  • a received coupon in digital form, like mobile ones from Digital Life, Groupon or similar will have 10 times more redemption rates than the ones you receive by mail in a printed version according to Rimma Kats and a research done by Borrell Associates

 

  • Chevrolet in conjunction with the Weather Channel mobile App (ADaptor Technology) received an up to 7 times higher CTR than other desktop ads as a research by Ogilvy indicated

 

  • Apple iOS is your friend! As you can read on Jumptap's Blog the Apple platform is outscoring those of the Android's Click-Through-Rate (CTR) almost double the results. With .72% (iOS) vs. .41% (Android) it appears that ads seen and read on an Apple device will perform better for the marketer, placing the ads.

 

  • Android is your friend, too! Considering that almost 4 out of 10 users will use their geo-location based app to check-in, when carefully planned with any group-buying apps you could see here some traffic for your fixed apps and an oil-change coupon. (comScore study)


Please, think about not just your habits and how you use the mobile device in your hand. You may still have one of these mobile brick phones (hey, not ba. Tthey are having now cult status on eBay and can bring around $300 in an auction) and just use them to report to home "will be there for dinner at 6.00pm", but you have to face the truth - the average person has their smartphone/cell phone for more than 14 hours per day within reach (Impiger Mobile Study) and will use it far more than "Hun...I am on my way."
