Like New: 5 Simple Steps to Cleaning Out Your Car

Taking great care of your car is well worth it. You should regularly wash your car and declutter it as often as possible in order to make the time you spend in it nicer. However, cleaning out your car is not always straightforward. You could be washing it regularly but could be doing it more harm if you happen to use the wrong stuff or procedures. Here are five simple ways to clean out your car.

Clean Out the Junk

You should get rid of the junk inside your car trunk by finding a storage unit from a company like i-70 Self Storage to keep all the things that you are not likely to use anytime soon together in your garage. You should then slide your car seats forward and clean out the junk trapped behind the seats. You should then proceed to vacuum the seats, trunk, mats and the carpet inside your car to make it cleaner. You should also declutter all your door pockets where a lot of junk is mostly stored in most cars.

Decluttering Your Car

Ensure that you remove all extraneous items from inside your vehicle. This will include all your stuff and valuables like gym or work bags, books, magazines and toys. This will be a great chance to organize the stuff that you keep in your car neatly. You should then remove all the trash from your car and place it in your garbage bag. If there are any recyclables you find in the car, ensure that you place them in the recycling container.

Cleaning the Central Console

You should moisten a rag using a glass or household cleaner to clean your car’s central console well. Start cleaning the cleanest areas in your car going towards the dirtiest while leaving the grunge for the last part. Clean your dashboard area, center console and the steering wheel. Ensure that you wipe down your gearshift and the door pockets too. You should then proceed to clean the buttons on your dashboard.

Cleaning the Upholstery and Seats

Ensure that you clean your car’s floor mats by removing them to shake off the dirt from them. Before you vacuum the floor mats, clean the grime that you will find underneath the mats. As you vacuum the inside of your car, you should start from the top to bottom in order to finish with the floor. If your car has leather seats, ensure that you condition and clean them well to prevent them from cracking and drying out. You can take your upholstery seats for cleaning at the premises of approved cleaners.

Exterior Washing

You should ensure that you wash the exterior of your car regularly to keep it looking new and beautiful. Dead bugs, bird droppings, dirt, tree sap, road gunk and various other contaminants will spoil your car paint if left to stick on it for too long. Your car should be cleaned regularly depending on the conditions of your location in order to avoid blemishes appearing on your car’s exterior surface. Washing your car when the surface is warm causes soap and other cleaning products to dry faster than when it is cool. Ensure you park the vehicle under a shade or wash it either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Final Thoughts

Keeping your car free of clutter and junk will ensure that it stays clean and organized. You will love spending time inside it and find your things fast when you need to locate them. Following all the above tips will go a long way in ensuring that your vehicle remains clean and free of clutter.
