On November 1st, I will be publishing the 2009 Automotive Search Marketing Architecture (ASMA) report at the Digital Dealer Conference. The report will review and summarize 34 website platforms to assist car dealers evaluate which website platforms can best help them with their search marketing goals.

To that end, I have included three grids that will be part of the report. If you work for one of the companies listed on these grids, I simply ask that you email me with the Y or N answers to each of the questions in these grids. Please send your responses to:

In the end, it is very beneficial for you to submit your data otherwise it will be blank. Having the CORRECT data for your company in the report helps everyone on this forum understand the services that you offer car dealers.

I have many of these completed but there are a few missing and so I thought that this forum would be a good place to ask vendors to send their answers and make sure I have as much participation as possible.

I appreciate your assistance in making the 2009 ASMA study the most complete review of automotive website platforms in circulation.

If you are using any of the platforms listing on this grid, please forward the link to this page to your support representative so that they respond this week.

Questions on this grid are:

User Editable SEO Tags on All Static Pages
Add New Pages on the Fly
Custom Naming of New Page URL's

Questions on this grid are:

Company Offers Direct SEO Services
Company Offers Social Media Services
Company Offers Content Writing Services

Questions on this grid are:

Thanks Ralph for the help. There are a few other vendor holdouts that after repeated calls will not get back to us about the functionaliuty of their platforms. If anyone is using the vendors listed below, encourage them to call us next week and submit the answers to these questions. Tell them to ask for Carrie at 732-450-8200.

@Nicole - Thank you for showing up! As much as I admire you and your team, I am not qualified to comment on the current state of affairs at Reynolds Web Solutions.

Ralph, thanks for the kind words and pointing Brian in the right direction.

Brian, I will get the answers to you via email.

@Brian - I certainly am not going to argue that point! Personally, my opinion having been on the inside as a Reynolds Consultant, then being a customer of RWS as a dealer, and now being a competitor, is that Reynolds tends to produce sound technology, but delivers very little service to the dealer after the technology is purchased. It seems that dealers buying RWS sites have sound architecture and content management systems, but it becomes a DIY project to properly set up their sites.

Of course, I am biased and since most of my TAS Consulting team that supported Reynolds Web Site dealer implementations between 2000 and 2004 have since left and now work with me and the Digital Marketing team at ADP, my opinion on the matter is skewed towards citing a reduced level of service being provided by Reynolds... Hey, but what do I know? I helped build it, then bought it and now compete with it...

From all my tests, Rey Rey needs more people like Steve Crim because the SEO delivery of their normal websites is very low on the SEO compliance scale.

Open systems are great, but as I pointed out in a recent article, if vendor deliver a website to car dealers with broken SEO, and no one fixes it, the dealer suffers.

I look forward to meeting Steve some day.

@Brian - In addition to the RWS dealer website strengths in the area of multilingual versions and compatibility, the platform lends itself well to SEO efforts by independent professionals. Mr. Steve Crim, of Screencrafters is in my opinion (present company excepted) one of the most highly skilled, knowledgeable and effective SEO practitioners serving car dealers over the past ten years. Steve has repeatedly told me, much to my chagrin that prefers working with the RWS dealer website platform over all others... The ADP Dynamic platform has all the user accessible title and meta-description tag editing access an SEO could desire, but no matter how much I try to convince Steve otherwise, he still prefers working his SEO wizardry on the RWS platform... Go figure! Anyways, in the spirit of trying to help you provide an unbiased and accurate report, and despite the fact that Reynolds is ADP's primary nemesis and competitor, I would not want you to overlook some of the more valuable features of the RWS WebMakerX dealer websites... Anyways, the right person to be extolling the virtues of Reynolds Web Solutions is certainly not me, a direct competitor, it is Nicole Case, who I happen to have a tremendous amount of professional respect for, here's her bio published at

Nicole Case
As Director of Product Planning for Reynolds Web Solutions, Nicole understands the digital needs of dealers and the importance of integrating digital marketing tools with the DMS. Specializing in dealership Internet strategy, Nicole’s knowledge helps Reynolds develop tools that enable dealers to gain measurable results from their Web investments and make the Web an effective part of their overall business strategy and operation. A retail automotive industry veteran, Nicole works directly with hundreds of dealerships, giving her a unique perspective on the business problems dealers are trying to solve and the role digital marketing and advertising can play. Under her leadership, the Reynolds Web Solutions customer base has grown steadily as Reynolds delivers the products and support that make business better for its customers.

Thanks Ralph....for the input, I never heard about that strenth and that help me with someonthing. I wish someone from Rey Rey would help best represent their platform in the ASMA study report. Since dealers will be reading these grids to compare features, it would be good to have their latest updates on their offerings included.

@Brian - In a previous life I worked for Reynolds Web Solutions and although I cannot speak for them now, I still take pride in some of their dealer web site features... For example, RWS has one of the best multi-lingual setups in the biz.

Since we can't seem to get anyone from Rey Rey to answer these 9 questions, is anyone here using Reynolds and Reynolds in their dealership that can answer these 9 questions?
