*It`s not always about "just selling cars"...

The Douglas Auto Group had it`s 1st Annual Food-Drive organized by our Social Media Mgr. Patrick Nash and that turned out to be a very successful event and we`d like to thank everyone that contributed to this very worthy cause. Take a drive to 31 Evans Terminal in Hillside, NJ 07205 to learn a little more about this extraordinary organization, you`ll be amazed as to all that they do at the Food Bank.

Programs & Services;
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey fights hunger and poverty by distributing food and groceries, providing education and training, and developing new programs to help people with low incomes meet their basic needs.

As a non-profit organization, we act as the central food distribution center for other non-profits in NJ that serve individuals, soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters.

In addition to Food Distribution, The Community FoodBank operate additional programs such as The Community Kitchen, the Kids Division, an on-site Thrift Shop, and much more.

Well done guys! Excellent cause to support and a great way to raise awareness of your community support.  This is excellent PR showing your humanity within this dog-eat-dog auto industry.  Great job and all the best in 2012!

Ken Beam had a huge hand in making sure our 1st Food Drive was a success. Ken and I were truly humbled while we were walking around getting a tour of the NJ Community Food Bank of Hillside. It was only one of three programs in the entire state of NJ that Governor Christie didn't cut. 69,000 people in Union County go hungry ever day. In 2008, the food bank helped out 500,000 NJ residents. Today its 900,000 NJ residents. While the good PR from doing something like this is nice, this was an event we needed to do.

A business is part of a community.  When hunter/gatherers communities became agricultural and able to settle, members began able to specialize and offer something the collective didn't have before.  We are in a very specialized society today, but our commodities came from our ability to specialize and add value to others.  If we all realize our history, products and commodities are all here to serve the greater good, they are gifts of time and resourcefulness.  To see businesses actively participating in the community needs is both smart business and, if you are human, natural.
