It is fundamental for human beings to eat right, exercise and take care of themselves. This same theory applies to our cars if we want them to last longer.

Car maintenance is something that has to be performed routinely and properly. If not, you will end up wasting money on repairs that could otherwise be avoided if only you did routine checks.  Routine checks will allow repairs to arrive less often and usually only minor repairs that would incur at a fraction of the cost.

In order to make sure we maintain the value of our cars, below are a few tips from an auto body shop in Vaughan on how to take care of your cars so that they remain functional and in top condition.

  • Engine Oil

Just like humans require blood for normal bodily functions, our cars need oil to ensure they run smoothly. For anyone with a car, it is advisable to have their mechanic show them how to check the level of their oil using a dipstick.

In addition, all car owners should note that the oil should be changed approximately every 5000km. Routine checks should, however, be conducted weekly. Doing this ensures the car’s engine reliability is maximized promoting its efficiency over time.

Remember to always park your car on an even ground when checking the engine oil so as to get the correct readings.

  • Check brakes

Car brakes are one of the most important parts of a car. They play a huge role in the prevention of unprecedented accidents.

Brakes are typically designed to be replaced from time to time due to the amount of wear and tear they are subjected to. This is crucial in maintaining maximum braking efficiency.

In case you sense or notice a problem with the braking system, immediately have your car checked by a mechanic. Failed brakes are nothing to wish on your worst enemy.

  • Notice warning signs

If you are driving and you notice some form of illuminating or flashing lights on your dashboard, immediately call your mechanic. You could also take a look at your car’s manual.

Ignoring some warning signs could do irreparable damage to your car that can easily result in       expensive fixes.

  • Use reputable mechanics

When we are sick, we visit the best doctors. The same should apply to our cars. It is crucial to invest in a trustworthy and credible mechanic that will have our best interests at heart by ensuring the car is kept in top condition. It is advisable to find such mechanics from directories of dealerships that sell your particular car brand.

Another way is through the old-fashioned way of getting referrals from people you trust.

  • Use the right tires

It is crucial to use the right tires recommended by the cars manufacturer. Also, having the right amount of inflation is equally important. When you notice tread wear indicators, replace the tires. Worn out tires can be extremely dangerous, especially during the rainy seasons.

Apart from the above tips, other ways you can ensure your car is well-kept is to keep the car body intact, making sure all windows are clear and functional among other things.

Do the above and you will undoubtedly get a return on your car investment.
