Gary Marcotte Joins 3 Birds Marketing’s Board of Advisors

Former AutoNation Senior VP of Marketing will advise 3 Birds with over 25 years of industry experience

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (July 17, 2014) –  Gary Marcotte has joined 3 Birds Marketing’s board of advisors, effective immediately.

Marcotte is most noted for his 13-year-tenure with AutoNation, Inc., America’s largest automotive retailer. Most recently, Marcotte served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for the company, leading the eCommerce department and AutoUSA lead distribution network from unprofitability to several consecutive years of profitability and growth. His previous roles with AutoNation included Senior Vice President of eCommerce, Vice President of New and Used Vehicle Operations, e-Commerce and other Retail Operations. 

With over 25 years of automotive experience, Marcotte is a highly sought-after speaker for his thought leadership and experience in revolutionary product and service development. As Director of Operations at Driver's Mart Worldwide, Inc., he oversaw areas including product sourcing, information technology, and operating standards. Before Driver’s Mart, Marcotte helped launch Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus Division and pioneered the automaker’s Certified Pre-Owned Car program—the first of its kind in the industry.

Gary Marcotte is a respected and experienced automotive professional that I admire and consider a friend... All the best to Gary in his role at 3 Birds Marketing!

Here is a story that illustrates Gary Marcotte's willingness to do what it takes to get the job done:

I was once hanging out at a very remote bar in the jungles of Jamaica, when out of the sweltering heated mist of the jungle there appeared a VERY white middle aged man trudging his way towards  us... As he got closer I realized it was Gary Marcotte! We quickly got him to the bar area and made sure he got hydrated as we listened to his story of having left the Montego Bay, Jamaica Airport in a Taxi which got him to the roadside closest to the Blue Hole Jamaica resort we were at... After which he figured he could find his way along the trails and dirt roads to the resort.  That was when someone said "Oh my God, we forgot to pick up Gary Marcotte at the Montego Bay Airport!"

Gary is a tremendous asset to any organization fortunate enough to have access to his wisdom, guidance and leadership...
