For over a decade, Craigslist has been one of America's favorite ways to shop for cars. It has the raw subtlety of old newspaper classified ads while maintaining the digital benefits such as keyword searches and dense amounts of information on the vehicle, particularly through images.
Now, the platform is gaining even more users thanks to "Gallery View" on vehicle listings pages. This gives a dealership the ability to truly highlight their vehicles utilizing photos. These photos have always been an important part of the individual listings themselves, but now dealers can draw more attention to their cars while people are still search through listings. Gallery View makes the use of proper images more important than ever before.
It's not just a matter of taking the right photos. Having the right number of images can make the difference between an inquiry and a pass. For this reason, we have implemented an adjustable minimum number of photos in our software so that dealers know which vehicles are "Craigslist-ready" and which need more attention before hitting the popular pages.
Another important improvement for consumers (and dealers) is the ability to utilize Gallery View in order to direct the message at potential buyers. Having pictures is important, but because Gallery View puts vehicles side by side, a dealership has the opportunity to make their listings stand out with messaging in the photos, vivid imagery in the background, or closeups of the vehicle itself. One look at the listings and a dealer can easily see which images are standing out and which are not.
Thankfully, car shoppers will see the same thing.
As Craigslist continues to expand its presence and draw more car shoppers onto its pages, dealers who are using the right software to post can get more listings, better listings, posting efficiency, and consistency of message. All of this combines to continue to improve the return on investment that dealers realize from their listings.
