Automotive Marketing Professional Community for Car Dealers, OEM and Suppliers
I have written before that I see a "Digital Divide" (see my blog) of dealers who "get" the Internet and those who don't. I have a challenge for our members to help us out with that--but, first, here's the background:
I read another post on another site today that made me think it's not just a "Digital Divide" but is also an issue like this: We have many dealers who are "urban" to the internet, seeing the benefits of websites, SEO, PPC, social media, reputation management, and so forth--in other words, as urbanites they get the best roads, highways, communications, etc.
And then we have dealers out in the weeds of the Internet! Not in the suburbs of the Internet, but I mean out on the edge of the jungle: One-person Internet shops, no pricing on the websites, Internet leads answered in days, doing direct mail and newspaper, having no idea what is really working. Essentially, they live in an Internet shack held together by good-ole-boy wire on relationships and sticky notes by the phone.
And I think some of our current ADM dealers are in those weeds but lurk here, but I believe that many more of them likely don't even know about ADM and the other sites that are so helpful to them. We can't just reach for them here, or at conferences they probably don't attend, anyway. We need to reach out to them to GET them here so they can learn and prosper.
I am forming an effort to do just that. Let's use "six degrees of separation" to get from you to someone you know that isn't on here--and it's okay if they are far or close to your dealership or office, that's entirely up to you.
Here's the challenge: Can we get each ADM member to reach out into the weeds and invite just ONE of those folks here? Or many more, if you want?
Please let me know directly when you do that. I don't know that we'll have a prize for most new members sponsored, but I WILL put your name in lights here at ADM. And we'll all be able to help, and to maybe get some insights we don't see here in our urban Internet sprawl.
And that's just one example of why we are here at ADM.
