Facebook Creates New Mobile Ad Opportunity

Automotive Dealers can now buy mobile-only sponsored-story placements from Facebook. In March, mobile ads became available, but only for the larger companies buying into premium ad packages. Before, companies needed to have a large fan base of at least 500,000 fans to access the reach generator, a part of the premium package.

What are the changes?

Now, Facebook mobile ads are open to a much larger pool of advertisers with any size budget, which bring in the majority of its $3.7 billion in annual revenue today. Today, both small and medium-size businesses can use the self-serve tool.

Currently, the trend of daily active users is to use a mobile device. Of the 900 million Facebook users, nearly half access Facebook using a mobile device. If more and more users are using mobile devices instead of their computers, Facebook needed to come up with a plan to effectively market to these consumers. Today they did.

This is the latest shift in new media technology and Facebook is focused on keeping up with it. Advertisers can now target mobile devices as one of their targeting options, which include: News Feed desktop, right-hand side desktop, News Feed mobile. Advertisers can target any or all of these three placements.

The possibilities with mobile are endless. Auto Dealers can use mobile ads to market service specials to reach people on-the-go, many of whom will be in their vehicle at the time.

Where companies vital to the Social Media world step in:

As of today, SOCIALDEALER, a social media management company for automotive dealers, is taking advantage of this opportunity as soon as it presented itself. Consumers looking to buy cars often share their buying processes or current feelings on social media. They aren’t always doing this on their at-home computer systems. They are posting their thoughts as they happen, regardless of their location, which includes from their mobile devices, as 90% of Americans keep their cell phones within arms reach 24 hours a day.

Perfect. SOCIALDEALER was already one of the first automotive social media companies to manage Facebook Ads for Automotive Dealers. Now they will be targeting Facebook Ads to mobile for these same dealers. SOCIALDEALR strives to stay up to date on newer, effective technologies. This example is just one of them. Targeting the consumer on mobile devices is not only an advantage for people on-the-go looking for cars, but for the auto dealership itself.
