Facebook recently struck a deal with the maker of the Oculus Rift, an up-and-coming VR headset, in a $2 Billion acquisition. Palmer Luckey, its creator, says that making the deal with Facebook will allow the headset to grow very quickly – and not just in gaming, where it’s already gained momentum.
Facebook says that they will eventually brand the hardware itself with their logo. How it will tie in with Facebook.com itself is still unknown, but it will still be primarily marketed as gaming hardware before other uses are concocted by the social giant.
On the flip side, the maker of Minecraft has already dropped all plans to use Oculus Rift due to the buyout.
