Edmunds Second Annual Hackamotive Event Is Next Week

Have you heard about Hackomotive?
It's's exciting annual competition that invites start-ups, entrepreneurs, and online/mobile developers to build a better way to improve the car shopping experience. Last year's inaugural Hackomotive was a resounding success, and this year it's back with more prize money and a fun new "Shark Tank"-style format.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — February 18, 2014 —
Seven tech, marketing and automotive business leaders from across the country are confirmed as judges for's second annual Hackomotive, a three-day event in which participants develop products and ideas that promote a better car shopping experience. This year’s event, to be held at's Santa Monica, Calif. headquarters February 25-27, will include inspiring talks, networking opportunities and brainstorming sessions.


The participants will present their innovations in a "Shark Tank"-style format to the panel of judges, who will award a $20,000 grand prize to the first place winner, $10,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.


The judges slated to determine Hackomotive's winning teams are:

  • Michael DeSimone, President and CEO of DeSimone Group Investments
  • Holly Dudley, Director of Enterprise Sales at Prosum Technology Services
  • Jamie Foley, Vice President at MWW Public Relations
  • Daniel Gage, Director of Communications & Public Affairs for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturer
  • Tony Rimas, Managing Partner at Fraser McCombs Capital
  • Oren Weintraub, Founder and CEO of Authority Auto and

How about something that might break the door open on another platform other than the Internet? I'd have to get them to sign an NDA, is that part of their process?

Additionally, how about a better way to display car inventory, based upon user preferences and questions, which IS the way Google's Algorithm operates now...?

I guess I'd have two entries, but I'd rather go after my own venture capital than pander for small cash. $20K is peanuts.

BTW, Shark tank is a complete rip-off of the Dragon's Den, which has been on BBC for much longer @
