Edmunds.com Launches Used Car Inventory Marketing for Car Dealers

Edmunds.com Launches Inventory Search Tool for Used Car Shoppers and Dealers Nationwide

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — September 8, 2011 — Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, has announced the addition of a used car inventory search tool that makes it easier for car buyers to shop for and compare used vehicles in their local areas, and for dealers to list their vehicles to an audience of informed, motivated buyers. The feature, which can be found near the top of Edmunds.com’s homepage or at http://www.edmunds.com/used-cars/, complements the site’s acclaimed new car inventory tool that features inventory from thousands of dealers nationwide.

“Dealers participating in the early pilot program gave us tremendous feedback about its success, so we’re excited to open up this opportunity to all dealers across the country who are ready to support the needs of Edmunds’ in-market consumers,” said Edmunds.com Sr. Vice President Donna Sechrist. “Matching up used-car shoppers with local dealers is another example of how Edmunds.com is continuing to expand the ways that buyers and car dealers can connect easily and efficiently.”

The used car tool allows shoppers to browse vehicles in their markets by selecting preferences across several critical categories such as make and model, mileage, model year and price. Shoppers can further narrow vehicles by identifying special features, colors and trim levels. Local-area results are then presented to the shopper together with the listing dealer’s email and phone number.

Edmunds.com hosts around 13.5 million unique visitors every month, and nearly half check out the site’s used car content. Since Edmunds.com focuses on inventory from franchise dealers, shoppers can expect some of the highest quality used vehicles that have recently come off lease or were traded in for a new vehicle. These vehicles are often certified with extended warranties and successful multi-point inspections, and may also be eligible for special financing rates. Edmunds.com estimates that franchise dealers sell about 800,000 used vehicles each month.

Dealers interested in listing their used car inventories with Edmunds.com are invited to call the dealer service line at 1-855-EDMUNDS (1-855-336-8637).

Good god, another inventory sight!  We saw this coming.  Confusing to Shoppers.  Advice spread everywhere and inventory scattered.  Another reason Google will find your vehicle for you in the future.

I believe Carfax would be the ultimate inventory site, if they ran with it.  Would be tough for Google to get the other pertinent information they have and be as popular as they are worldwide.  I wonder if they would make the move.  All these other sites have the same info.  Autocheck and Carfax are more pertinent to the buyer/seller.  Ultimately, I believe they could rise above all inventory sites and make them go away.
