Do Dealers Have To Spend More To Increase Their Sales?

PCG Consulting founded in 2011, was created to provide vendor neutral analysis and recommendations to help dealers maximize their operating budgets and car sales.  The consulting team also provides onsite training and education for car dealers on Internet/BDC lead processes, social media, reputation management, and digital marketing strategy.  


A majority of the dealers that hire PCG Consulting have operating budgets that are sufficiently funded for success. Our consultants often find that enough money is being allocated for marketing and operations each month but those allocations needed to shift.  For some, effective solutions are more process oriented rather than a focus on "products".  


Our recommendations to date have not been viewed as a "radical" shift by the dealer principal. Our recommendations have made a big difference for our clients turning them into raving fans.  We have many case studies to share, but if you are interested, we can go over them in person. 


Helping Dealers Find The Right Balance


Between OEM education and forums like this community, dealers are aware of the importance of chat, social media, SEO, Google Adwords, video marketing, phone scripts, lead accountability, etc.  However, they are struggling with how to come up with the right balance for these opportunities in conjunction with their traditional media investments.


And those that think they have the right balance, are having a challenge inspecting their vendor reports.  Can dealers effectively review their outsourced Google Adwords campaigns to see which opportunities they may be missing?  Do dealers know if they are spending too much or too little on paid search?


Dealers are also very aware of the importance of handling customers calls and leads professionally.  Yet, when we mystery shops dealers with the help of Jerry Thibeau from, it is clear that dealers are struggling with consistency. For some dealers poor lead handling is a result of the lack of clear processes and training.


That's why we tell dealers when we first start working with their team:

"We don't want you to spend more money!  We want to help you leverage your existing budget more efficiently.".  

We are sincere when we make that  statement because we often find ways to make the existing budget dollars more effective.  There are many times that a 15% shift in traditional media spending to neglected areas of digital engagement return a significant increase in sales opportunities.
