Move over Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter—there’s a new kid in town! 

At long last Google has opened the door for dealerships and other businesses to get a piece of the Google Plus social hype.    Now Dealers can begin to build their social influence on Google + Page in addition to the already existing social networks.


Both Google + Page and Facebook can help your dealership connect with customers and begin to build influence and social branding presence.  In both social giant platforms, dealerships and other businesses can connect with customers via a main focus on the Stream. Businesses can post “what’s new” via video, photo, text, attachments, and location-based check-ins. Google and Facebook can both be accessed via mobile apps utilizing geographic targeting and age-related targeting.  As with Facebook, Google+ Pages allows customers and fans to recommend you with a +1 or add you to a “circle” which can be shared with others.


What makes Google + Page uniquely appealing is the ability to create video and chat “hangouts” with a Page’s social circle.   Google+ “hangouts” enable dealers the ability to showcase the passionate people behind the dealership showroom in a face-to-face real-time setting with up to ten customers at one time.

Another great advantage for Google + is a new feature called Direct Connect.  With billions of Google searches every day, customers are looking for information on businesses and brands.  The Search Engine giant has now leveraged search queries to include all Google + Page(s) in search results, and has given the customer the ability to directly connect to a business Google + Page from a Google search by simply typing “+” followed by the page.  

One distinct advantage to every online marketing platform is its measurability.  You will be happy to know that Google reports that Analytics service to report who’s interacting with your page and how, user’s demographics, and info about social activities like +1’s, Shares and Comments are in the pipeline and should be available in coming weeks.
